So i just finished advanced squat hunting likeso--
I took a list of all the abandoned buildings in pinellas from the city, than narrowed it down to property that hasnt changed hands in a long time thru property appraiser, than narrowed it down to ones that havent had taxes payed on them last year, than checked small claims and a couple other public records, than checked locations in google earth. SOO the best place i found is a 600 sq ft house owned by a fellow who lives in the panhandle and is 74 yrs old that got the house in 1990 for 1000 and its not mortgaged so its CLEAR and doesnt pay taxes on it so its considered vacant. its at the end of 2 streets next to the interstate with a huge empty field behind it hahaha on the southside. The reason i looked into this is my dad is a contractor (im staying with him right now) and as such knows property law so i looked up the adverse possession laws (squatters rights) in the fl statutes and blah blah blah. so its roughly like this-if i get the property surveyed and than have someone sign a deed(?) saying they have no interest in the property (anyone) and than submit it to the gvt and start paying taxes on it (930$ a year) and if i openely do so without being stopped than after 7 years i go to court and its mine. and the house is worth 40 grand which isnt much and it seems like a shitty house but shit dawg. So when i get back to st. pete its going down. and once i get the deed or whatever i can turn on the utilities in my name hahaha
