Teacher, Hailing from Albuquerque

Aug 19, 2009 19:51

Hello friends. I am officially hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have changed my address with the postal service, moved into a dumpy little apartment whose walls I have painted (with much credit to Neal and Morgan) and opened a bank account with my first paycheck.

My classroom has been re-arranged to fit all 24 students (and their desks) who are now registered for 7th and 6th grade (one just registered today!)--my very first class tomorrow morning. I still have a lot to do before I can go home for the night and its 8pm.

I'm sitting here at my teacher desk with my grade book and lesson plans thinking to myself, "My gosh, I'm really doing it!"

The first time I remember wanting to be a school teacher I was 4 years old. Tomorrow I realize a lifelong dream. To God be the glory!

PS I have a class pet - Carlisle, a green and blue betta fish. And it's not pronounced the English way. It's pronounced as if it were a Spanish name: Car-leese-lay. I have to get used to Spanish pronunciations--the way almost all my students pronounce their names. I will surely sound ike a fool many times in the next 24 hours.

PPS there would be pictures if Neal had not accidentally flung my camera into Iowa Lake....

Much Love
