Everybody Wants to Be a Cat!
Just kidding. I don't wish I was a cat. They're not my favorite.
However, I did pick my solo for Jazz Showcase (FINALLY). I was back and forth between "Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me" and "You Make Me Feel So Young", both by Rosemary Clooney. Then I found this little gem:
I am seriously in love with Zooey Deschanel's voice and the sheet music for this is much easier to come by than the Rosemary ones. Now all I have to do is find an accompanist. Yahoo.
Any suggestions for a female duet? My friend Kelsey and I did our own arrangement of "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles last year and totally rocked it, but we're completely stuck on a song for this year. If we don't pick soon, we won't have enough time to prepare it before auditions. Gah, stress.
Other than that, nothing much interesting is going on in my life right now. I'm off school today and tomorrow as well as Wednesday because the youngins have PSAE testing to suffer through and Friday is senior ditch day. =] However, I'm still being forced to suffer through musical rehearsal for three agonizing hours today. I swear, after this year, I never want to hear "Do Re Mi" ever again in my life.
Tomorrow I'm getting my hair cut (no length off, but layers and bangs) and then after Blue Revue, I'm heading to U of I to see Accapellapalooza! Yay! One of my friends, Alex, who is an amazing sax player and all-around genius is in the U of I Xtension Chords and they're hosting, so a bunch of people are going to see them. Also, my best friend Kelsey is going there next year, so I get to see where she's living!
Wish me luck at Dante's Inferno rehearsal tonight.
