I was HOPING I could get that done in time for Valentines Day so I could have a good yak about it and post the picture together with it for a laugh, but unfortunately it seems that that opportunity has come and past. Ah well, butterscotch. :B
But anyway, why is it that a lot of people see V-Day as Exacerbate-Your-Own-Lonliness day? I have a theory: just about every song aired on the radio and every film that gets screened has some theme about love and relationships in. You take anything as an example and you'll probably find it. In fact, I would be willing to wager that you'd be hard pressed to find anything that doesn't have that motif in it (excluding things like instrumentals, short films, commercials, and doof-doof music - those are cheating).
Therefore, it can be argued that in entertainment circles, the message that they're sending is if you don't have a partner, you're a sad pathetic loser who is missing out and occupying valuable space. Or... something to that effect. In any case, it's a message that gets re-enforced time and time again to the point that it's now more or less an axiom. No partner = lolz u haev no purpose 2 ur lyf roflmao!!!!111
Now, I'm not trying to sound bitter or resentful that others have found love while I'm still being a vagrant about it. However I do think that lonliness is just a state of mind. Think what other people want you to think and you'll only end up conforming to their expectations.
As for that picture, it's that pic that I've had going for about a month now. Oog, last time I try something that ambitious again without some sort of guarentee of getting laid paid. Like, in real money. Not that plastic Monopoly play money either. A guy's gotta eat, y'know. o_o Still, it was 4 times larger than most other pictures that I work on so I suppose it's fair enough that it take 4 times as long.
I think the pictures I do always look nicer if I colour them up on the laptop and then view them on this computer. I think the LCD screen just doesn't show yellow as well as the CRT for some reason. There's probably some good engineering explaination for it, but fucked if I can be bothered reading up on it and finding out. And then it'll probably be the million dollar question on some game show later and I'll be all "FUCK! I should have read up on that when I had the chance!" but ah well, butterscotch. :3
I'm not really happy with how the background turned out; in particular the floor boards. I really kind of rushed it towards the end when I was in the have-to-get-this-done-before-going-to-bed-and-really-am-way-beyond-the-point-of-caring phase that I tend to go through with all the pictures I do. So I'd say that that aspect of the over all pic suffered the most and probably ruins the rest of the effort that I put into it to some extent... I hate drawing backgrounds. :B
Incidentally, I was had Interestella 5555 playing on the other computer as I was working on the background. So now I'm going to forever associate that picture with Daft Punk every time I look at the background. And since I'm planning on making it my desktop wallpaper on the laptop, there will be much Daft Punk playing in my for some time to come.
I might go back and fix up that background some day. Might. ..."Might." But for now, I think I'll just be happy to move forward a little and get cracking on some other things that I've been meaning to do but so far haven't got around to doing. Like working on finishing that web site. I could do with the money from that. :B
