VEINS ARC DIRECTORY | UPDATED AS NEEDED
A place to house general references of each arc and its significance. Eventually, minor arcs based around other characters will be added as well.
I thought it was high time, considering how confusing it can be to see "arc" without truly knowing what that means in this worlds context, to post what each arc is called and entails in a general synopsis. Because I do not have names for every arc as of yet (mainly the smaller ones) I am simply posting the major ones; I will add the smaller ones as they become better developed. Hopefully down the road I will actually have chapters of the arcs for everyone to read.
Note on name and story: The stories name is in the works as well. The original name was A Dragon's Story Retold. I made that name up back when I was twelve and when this story was much simpler and fairly straightforward. I am not saying that is bad or worse; rather I am saying that I have changed how the story is structured and constructed so that title just doesn't encompass everything this story is. Originally this story was a prologue and a "one book" story with short side stories to encompass prequels to certain characters such as Huntercross (whose name may or may not change). Now, however, this story is "open-ended" meaning I add new arcs in the story as I see fit. The prequels are still relevant and the "main arc" is still, essentially, the same in plot. Certain characters move throughout certain arcs and some no longer have importance or are dead when a new arc begins. Most arcs are at least a few years apart from the other, the Warrior Queen's arc beginning about five hundred years after the main "quest-line" (also the longest time between the arcs) and considered the second "arc" of my story. The arcs are as follows (prequels, etc are not specified; will add them if asked).
ARC ONE: "MAIN ARC" KNOWN AS PROPHESY*
Including the storyline of the main protagonist Amira Lavenhall and her companions that become the Inheritors. Silvin is apart of this story-line as well. For 2/3's of this arc he is the main seen antagonist but Sharock (name being tweaked) is the main antagonist of the actual arc.
The basic plot is that Sharock has arisen "out of" the red-eyed elf Silvin, who was locked in a castle when he was young, as it was foretold in the Prophesy that he would bring about the "re-birthing" of Sharock, thus they wished to keep him isolated. Amira becomes the Inheritor who has the gifting to re-awaken the Daldacons who are the only ones capable of knowing how to destroy Sharock.
ARC TWO: KNOWN AS THE WARRIOR QUEEN*
Set, around, five hundred years after the destruction of Sharock and the enthroning of Queen Amira and King Silvin of Lethe. Both Amira and Silvin are in this arc, but are not the focal point but rather minor characters. The main character is the 'Warrior Queen,' who is a young, human woman living in one of the only old Dragon Kingdoms left on earth that is still populated. However, the dragons have left the kingdom and have been gone for quite some time.
The basic plot is that the King and Queen of this kingdom are killed and the throne is usurped by the "Demon King." The daughter of the King and Queen flees; this arc tells of their daughter searching different places to help her rise against the Demon King and take back her kingdom from him. This is also the arc in which dragons begin to become involved in human and other races affairs, as they once did back when the Daldacons were the only "true" rulers. This arc also introduces the main human kings and queens that were not alive at the time: Queen Gunhilda of the North, King Auberon of the West, The Learner King of the East, and The Southern King (his kingdom is the least developed). Also begins to truly delve into the realm of the humans rather than the elves, and begins to open up how humans interact and their different cultures.
ARC THREE: KNOWN AS THE AGE OF THE COLOSSUS*
Unlike the past arc, this arc takes place only five years after the previous one. Switches focus to King Silvin who has reached a crisis in his personal life which is: he begins to question his judgment in leading the kingdom; he also begins to become uneasy about the lack of knowledge of his past, mainly in his dragon lineage. Silvin wishes to seek out his heritage, for he is a Night Colossus dragon, an ancient and rare dragon race to see nowadays. Colossus are as their name implies and were the largest dragons ever to exist, and were originally created as guardians for the Daldacons (at least the First Born Colossus were). King Silvin and Queen Amira go on a personal quest to seek out the history of the Colossus and to discover the original "Sacred Homes" of the First Colossus, who were the original guardians of the Daldacons.
While this quest/arc is not initiated by any outside force except Silvin's own wishes, the Dadlacons have greatly encouraged this quest as they mourn the loss of the guardians who once opened to the world the sacred beauties of the heavens, and were the resting places for all races. When the Colossus roamed, humans and dragons were the closest, almost kin. Information of the "ancient raced dragons" is released/furthered here as well as the introduction of certain characters, as well as the returning of other characters.
Notable characters besides Amira and Silvin in this arc: Marquess Brádach 'Baralax' Beaumont and King Auberon (returning figure). Essentially the Human Kingdom of the West plays a large role in this arc.
ARC FOUR: KNOWN AS THE SILENT SOUL FROM THE FAR EAST*
I have yet to develop how far this arc takes from the others but it is not long after Arc Three. This arc, unlike all the others, switches focus to the farthest eastern side of the large country all of these stories takes place on. Unlike in the West, the East is filled with strife, war, and rebellions. Only the Nathos, an immortal race of tall horned people, are capable of stopping the marauders and warring from continuing.
The Nathos were the first inhabited peoples of the East, humans, elves, and some shapeshifters migrating to the East. Bear shapeshifters, which are hardly found in the West, are seen more frequently and abundantly in the East.
The "hero" of this arc is Donovan, a wandering ranger who has given up any reason to care for any race, or any people. He lives his life apart from cities or villages, instead camping under the stars. When he is almost brutally killed in a fight gone wrong, he crawls to the nearest Nathos Healing House where his wounds are cared for. Eventually he is taken to the Nathos Capital to have safe shelter until he can recover the gear he needs to continue his wandering. There he meets with Valundus by accident and from there he is enlisted as a human ambassador, a messenger to deliver an alliance between isolated human forces that will help the coming war against the marauders and bandits banning against the Nathos and Elves to destroy all immortal races.
No characters previous make any appearances thus far in this arc, as it is in a different section of the world, however, if any are it will be duly noted. Main characters in this arc: Donovan, Valundus Lithis Valanaeus, Arkadios, Aaliyah, Prince Oratous, Prince Navintis, and Captain Alanaus.**
* Names are made up on the fly but are the temporary (possibly final) names given to these three arcs.
** Please note that these are the three "main" arcs constructed. Their are mini-arcs and branch of stories apart of the over-arching world. It is best to think of my story like Dungeons and Dragons, and other fantasy franchises that build onto their existing world in different areas and have branches spanning outward either dedicated to a character, or a particular people/race.
