I can almost taste success, and it tastes like burritos
Bluebeard's Machine is almost ready to go. It's (finally) under the word limit and I have a query, and all I have to do is write a synopsis. Thank goodness. If this has taught me anything, it's that editing and submitting is fully as hard as drafting a story in the first place.
Thankfully, though, I still like the manuscript. It's sweet, I like what the main characters have to say and face, and I'm not sick of reading it over and over and over. The self-doubt and angsty it's not gooooooooood enough! can come later, if I get that sweet golden ticket.
And thankfully I'm almost done. I got some mood-killing news today that I'm still not 100% sure how I to deal with, so it's good that I'm in the home stretch.
