Last night I came across my very, very old (printed 1979!) childhood copy of Jack London's Call of the Wild and stayed up till one in the morning re-reading it. We saw Ang Lee's new film, Lust, Caution tonight. The media has been going wild pegging it as an erotic spy thriller, harping largely on the explicit sex scenes everyone is talking about, and since it has been cut beyond recognition back in Asia, J and I figured that we'd lay down our dough to see the hype for ourselves ( Read more... )

We went to see Helvetica earlier tonight - it's a documentary about a typeface that everyone sees everyday, and the geek in me loved every bit of it. I've loved typefaces ever since I could type; I have early memories of clanking out short stories on my aunt's old typewriter, not just because I loved writing, but also because I really enjoyed ( Read more... )

We watched The Sound of Music on DVD last night; it was my 394785th time watching it and J's first time. When we were young, my sister and I used to act out all the scenes with the children in them and sing all the parts. Yesterday was the day of happy moods and personal digital cameras as we made the final sprint to the end.
