Sacred Bull 24 Hour Extravaganza @ Oxfordshire

Friday 25th August 2006

After dancing at the Sacred Bull Goes Camping festival last year, us Sirenz had been invited back to dance at the Sacred Bull 24 Hour Extravaganza party over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Last years festival was a lovely intimate affair so I was really looking forward to this party.

I had already booked Friday off months ago so I spent most of Friday clearing out the dining room so that we can start decorating. I was highly productive (for a change) and got everything cleared out, got everything ready to pack and some other bits of housework done by 3pm. I then sat down to put my hair in ready for the festival the following day. Once Ian (uvjunkie) arrived home we packed our bags ready for the morning.

After a really bad nights sleep I got up early and sat down to do my makeup, as Michelle (cyberspikes) had the great idea of doing it at home in comfort rather than sat in a field!

Ian (uvjunkie) and I then drove over to Michelle’s (cyberspikes) so that we could drive to the festival in convoy. Michelle and Alice were driving up with Andy (birdienumnum).

The five of us headed out on the drive to Oxfordshire. I must have looked ‘interesting’ as on the drive, we were overtaken on the motorway by a car full of guys, who slowed down and then overtook us again whilst one of the guys in the back took photos of me. Bloody cheek!

Once arriving, we found a nice place to set up our tents and finish getting ready.

There were not many people on site throughout the day, it only really filled up in the evening. I would estimate there were only around 300-400 people on site throughout the event, it was a very small and intimate party.

We had a great time, we got lots of positive comments from people at the festival, and loads of people recognised us as the Sirenz dancers that were at last years Sacred Bull festival, even though we were wearing our new costumes this time!

The weather was changeable, although we didn’t really get any rain, other than a few spots for a couple of minutes in the evening, it was not as warm as it could have been because of the wind.

We danced around a lot and also met and chatted to some very nice people whilst there. The music was great the majority of the time so it was very enjoyable to dance to.

We were out in our costumes from about 4pm and finally crashed out around 6am for a few hours sleep.

We got up and got some breakfast before slowly packing up and taking everything back to the car. We had intended to stay for longer, however, we were all tired and looking forward to some food and proper sleep.

The 5 of us headed back to the cars, and made our way back looking out for a nice pub for a late lunch along the way. We found a lovely place, which turned out to be very posh looking. The food was amazing. A great way to round off our weekend!
