The news about the bombing in London is awful - Ian (
uvjunkie) is safe as he is quite far out of central London. I was rather worried when I heard the news. I'm still a worried about him as he is on courses in Heathrow, and is due to be getting the train back to Bristol tomorrow.
I'm so glad to hear from many of you London-dwellers that you are OK. If anyone has news of anyone else we know who please keep us informed so we don't worry.
Yesterday was a busy day. In the morning I had to take my car to the garage for repairs, and pick up a hire car for use during this time. Yet another car to drive which has the indicators on the opposite side to the last car I've been driving! Indicate when I turn off? Nah, I'll just turn my window wipers on instead! Yay!
Yesterday evening was Charles' retirement from BAE / leaving do. He was one of the good ones here and its a shame that he has gone. However, he is now working as the Abbey Administrator for Bath Abbey which he is really enjoying so I think he's made the right choice after hearing him speak about it. We got dressed up and a few of us went straight to Bath early to meet Charles for a tour of the Abbey. He took us round and all the way up to the roof - we even got to stand in with all the bells. It was wonderful, the views out of Bath were breathtaking - I really wish I had taken my camera. The public are not given this tour, so it was a little bit special in that not many people get to go up there. Charles is happy to take any of us again if we want to go, so it might well be nice to go along sometime with Ian and get a lovely tour as well as catching up with Charles.
We then had a few drinks and nibbles in the abbey vaults whilst we waited for the rest of the group to join us. At 7.30 we headed over to the Number 5 Bistro for our meal. The meal was good, and the waiter was delicious ;)
All in all it was a lovely evening, the only thing missing was my Ian by my side :(
