The weekend was good. Yes indeedy.
Ian (
uvjunkie) and I got a few bits done on the house, but we mainly spent the weekend relaxing, catching up on sleep and socialising. Which was well needed, I can tell you!
However, one not so good thing happened on Friday afternoon when I returned home from work. My nice new car, which is the first car I've actually enjoyed driving in a very long time, has been in an accident. After only a week and a half of ownership. Just my luck :(
Basically, when I parked up on Friday afternoon, one of the neighbours was sat in his car behind me. I got out, smiled as I went past and headed into the house. All fine I thought. I headed inside to make some lunch as I was starving! About 15-20 minutes later, I had a knock on the door, and the neighbour informed me that he was very sorry but he's had a little accident involving my car. He's quite an elderly gentleman, and he said his foot slipped onto the gas, and his car went forwards into the back of my car, and up onto the curb hitting his neighbours front wall. He went straight over and got his insurance details for me. I felt a bit sad for him, as I popped in and chatted to him briefly, and he said he has just come out of hospital having lost a fair amount of weight and had been intending to change his car for a smaller one now. He thanked me for being so kind about the accident; I just thought it was a natural reaction though - I mean, he came straight over and told me, and everyone does things like that from time to time. There was no reason for me to get angry or upset - yes its an inconvenience for me now to get the car repaired (with the possibility the car could be a write off - which I hope is not the case as I really don't want to have to find another car since I love this one so much) - but its not like he just walked away and denied all knowledge or anything. After all, no one got hurt, and it will cost me nothing as his insurance will cover the damage.
So, my planned relaxing afternoon was slightly different as it involved phoning insurance companies and parents instead! And I finally got to eat my lunch around 4.30 once I'd finished dealing with that!
Still, Ian arrived home shortly after and we had a relaxing evening together.
Saturday was lovely, in the afternoon we headed over to Ashton Court to meet Mat (
8w_gremlin) & Liz (
xullrae) for their joint birthday picnic. T'was lovely to see everyone who was there - Rob (
robcee), Heppie (
hepstar), Leanne (
lsowersby), John (
6__stringninja), John (
deejake), Leanne's Sister and of course, Mat, Liz and little Savannah :)
When the rain started, we headed home, Mat and Liz popped round to see the new place and stayed for a drink, then Dave (
koldun) and Roxy (
vedma) turned up for a drink before Roxy was forced to leave as our facilities were just not good enough for her ;P
In the evening we headed out to the Tobacco Factory with Andy for a few drinks which was lovely before a very tired Lorraine was taken to bed :)
On Sunday we headed out to get some more plants, and had lunch at the Dovecote, where we bumped into Simon (
p5ym0n) and Steph (I think her name was). We headed home so Ian could pack ready for his trip away, and then briefly popped over to Dave and Roxy's to pick up some MASSIVE bamboo they were digging up and giving away! Thanks guys :)
We got home with just enough time for Ian to finish packing, me to pot the bamboo, and then we headed off to the train station where Ian left me :(
Still, on the bright side, earlier that day I'd received a message from Scott (
brightsoul_boy) and Lysa (
the_starlet) inviting us to the cinema, and although Ian could not make it, I gladly accepted as it has been far too long since we have seen either of them. So I headed straight over to theirs after dropping Ian off and had a lovely catch up before we headed over to the cinema for War Of The Worlds. I really enjoyed it, despite some obvious inconsistencies (I shall say no more though). A lovely evening and great to finally get the chance to see Scott & Lysa after so long :)
When I arrived home, the house felt so quiet and empty that although I was shattered, I was reluctant to go to bed alone :(
Ian called me to say that he is in the worst hotel ever. The room is the smallest room possible, and everything is dirty - there is mould in the shower and you actually have to climb over the toilet to use the shower! And to think they charge £60 per night for a sump like that. Luckily, he and another guy who works at Lloyds both staying there have complained and they have been moved to another hotel for the rest of the week, so he won't have to put up with that dump another night!
I miss him already :(
It was very strange going to the cinema without him and at one point I found myself leaning towards the guy next to me and was about to put my hand on his leg - before I realised it wasn't Ian... that could have been very embarrassing, especially trying to explain myself to his girlfriend! *DOH!*
I hope everyone had a fab weekend... and those that went to Tribe of Frog I hope you had a wonderful evening :)
