Sarah Jane Adventures spoiler of squee! Also, over the weekend, I finally watched the "Bones" season finale:
You know, based on the weird buzz, I was expecting to hate it but did not. The episode itself was enjoyable -- an acting showcase for a lot of the performers (including, delightfully, nearly all the interns) and shippy in its own way. The problem, I think, is that it absolutely should not have been the season finale, and that the showrunners should not have buzzed Booth and Brennan sleeping together when that rather spectacularly failed to happen in real life.
I mean, I am all about alternate-universe episodes. The best thing about "Fringe" is that it's about to launch into doing this full-time, which has my toes curling in anticipation. And I thought the "Bones" finale played interestingly as either Booth's dream (which most people have taken it as) or Brennan's book (which was my take on it). But if it were going to hold the place as season finale, the alternate-universe either really needed to inform us about the characters and/or the "visionary's" view of them, or it needed to be a lot shorter and more surreal; it could constructively have been both.
The last five minutes were fabulous, though, and I look forward to both comedy escapades with amnesia!Booth in the next season opener and a hopefully more emotional moment of his recovering his memory. (And if that takes more than two episodes, I'll eat my hat.)
I am so massively unproductive today that it's almost like an accomplishment of its own. If there were some sort of medal for total non-doing, I would be right up there on the Olympic podium.
