Tommy heaved himself down into a waiting room chair. The surgery had been successful, the girls were resting fine, and now all they could was wait.
Tommy hated waiting.
Someone had insisted that he get some sort of treatment upon seeing that some of his white hair had been stained crimson in the back despite his protests. That was another thing he was beginning to hate, his hair. It made him stand out and showed blood way too easily. Maybe he should get Kate to help him dye it or something.
He'd told the doctors he was fine, he'd just been thrown into a wall very quickly. That was all. Amazingly enough, they had insisted on x rays anyway. And what do you know...it turned out he was fine. Just like he'd told them. Just a little bleeding.
Which lead him back to the waiting. Which he hated. A lot. He wished the rest of the team would show up. He was worried about Kate. And maybe, maybe Sparky and Mrs. X. Just a little.
Outside of the hospital, Victor was sitting on a streetlamp. He'd wanted to go in with the others, but even a hospital wing reserved for superheroes wasn't equipped to handle an upset electromagnet. Rather than screw up a bunch of valuable electronic equipment and endanger more people's lives, he had decided to stay outside and as out of the way as possible. Someone would let him know how everyone was eventually, and if they didn't he'd just hack the hospital's computer network or something. It wasn't like he had anything better to do.
Karolina sat up in bed and tried to take interest in David Letterman on the tiny mounted hospital TV. She'd never actually been put under; the doctors had decided that a local anasthetic would suffice to remove the bullet from her leg, especially given the amount of blood she'd already lost. There'd been some minor panic when tests revealed she had no known bloodtype, but a hospital with a superhero wing was equipped for that sort of thing, especially a hospital so close to the Stark Coorporation. They'd pumped some form of synthetic plasma into her, stitched up her leg, and sent her off to recovery

Eli understood where Tommy impatience in this was coming from. The good news was, he worked and therefore has disposable cash. "Tommy, here's $40. Can you maybe go find some caffine for people? It's gonna be one of those nights, and I want to watch out for this crew until the Avengers or someone trustworthy gets here to pick 'em up."
Magik's stepping disc opened into the ER of the hospital.
"Help! Someone help! This boy has been attacked!" Magik called as nurses and orderlies rushed to her side. In an instant, Anole was put onto a mobile bed and was being rushed into surgery.
"Miss?" A nurse politely chimed in, "I'm going to need some information."
Magik groaned inwardly. She had barely been able to scrape together his name the few moments she was in the Devil's Due, much less any pertinent medical information. The first thing she needed to do was get out of this armor. With a flash she was in her familiar wizarding cloak and travel clothes.
The nurse seemed phased for a bit but quickly recovered, "As I said, Miss, we need the young mutant's information."
"I can't be bothered with this." Magik said impatiently as she cast a charm onto the forms, "S p e a k T r u e" and the forms were suddenly filled with all the necesary information

Tommy was on his way out of the waiting room, Rowena's wallet in hand and a smart ass grin on his face. And then he saw the woman who had been responsible for the blood stains in his hair, freaking out Teddy, and doing God Knows What to Billy. Needless to say, the grin fell quickly.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" He spat. Placing himself between her and the doorway to the room containing the closest thing he had to friends, Tommy tensed. He was still riled up enough to kick ass if need be. "Stay the hell away from them."
Amanda was sick and tired of explaining herself to those too ungrateful to see the good she was doing. "Believe or not, Tommy, I'm not here about you or your friends. A young mutant was nearly killed today in Mutant Town by a group of fanatical racists, the Sapiens League. I got him out of there as quick as I could, but the doctors have been in there for hours and they won't let me see him. And my friends may be fighting for their lives against those racist bastards and I'm sitting here doing nothing, because I know that when that kid wakes up, he's going to need someone by his bedside. I have every right to be here, just as you do." Amanda began to tear up. All she wanted to do was help people, but it never seemed to work out.
Amanda was so frustrated she wanted to scream, "I don't understand you people. Everything I've done tonight was for your protection. You're upset that I separated you from that madman Kenny? Didn't you see the werewolf rip off his head? Didn't you see Nocturne blast off his apendages? His regenerative powers

Billy took a deep breath as they got outside, looking around. He was actually very, very glad for the excuse to get out of that waiting room.
He knew where they were.
His father worked here.
And boy, was he going to be pissed off when he found out about this.
Looking down at himself, Billy shook his head. He couldn't go walking around like this. "I need a change of clothes. he said as his uniform morphed into a pair of jeans and a red sweater. "Wow. I didn't even mean to do that."
He glanced around again, spotting Vision and Hawkeye perched on the lamp post with a guy he recognized from the fight, and some other guy he didn't even know at all.
"Hulkling" disappeared at some point during the trek through the hospital and Teddy Altman was the one who followed his boyfriend through the door.
A shirtless Teddy Altman.
"Billy, do you still have my shirt?" he asked. "I think that you had it last."
The Vision did not swear when he saw his teammates exit the hospital, although he did drop down to earth faster than those he had been conversing with - or having a staring contest with, in the case of the Skrull.
Clint looked down to see Billy walking out of the hospital room. He smirked while waving to see what kind of reaction he could bait out of the young spell caster. He yelled from the lamp post.
Billy untied the shirt that was still around his waist and silently handed it to Teddy. "I'm fine," he said. "We're all... well, we're not dead. The girl's gonna be okay. Mrs. X sent us out on a food run."
His eyes went to the two strangers, then to Vision, as he arched an eyebrow. Everything about his expression read so what's going on here?

Rowena settled back into the chair she had claimed, closing her eyes and sorting through her thoughts. She needed to have everything together when it came time to spill.
She wasn't entierly happy about having to tell these children, but now ignorance would get them killed. Or worse.
With Kenny, there was always an or worse.
But something was tugging at her attention. A little thread come unraveled in the mental air. She opened an eye and tried not the glare at Kristoff. "What?" she said, trying not to snap. "Just spit it out boy. What's bothering you?"
Re: Meanwhile, in the Waiting RoomkristoffvJune 6 2006, 21:24:18 UTC
Kristoff had no compunction about glaring at Rowena Xanathos. "I do not have to tell you anything, witch. My personal affairs are my own business."
He did not understand how he could have frozen up like that before. It had never happened. His mother had died years ago, it made no sense for him to become trapped in a memory from years before.
Re: Meanwhile, in the Waiting RoomrowenamoxJune 6 2006, 21:33:01 UTC
"I'm going to let that slide from you just this once, boy," Rowena said, her voice like poisoned honey. "I am a magus, not a witch. There is a very great difference, partly having to do with how many pieces of your body they find when I'm done." She leaned forward. "And unfortunately for both of us, this does have to do with me. I can teeeell." She drew the last word out with a sing-song voice. "But if you want to play the part of the stoic, I suppose that's your affair. I'll just get it out of you later."
She shifted a little in her seat, eyes sweeping the room as a familiar pain hit her, making her twitch.
Another thing she absolutely hated about being fourteen.
With a little sigh, she slid back out of her seat and sidled up to Kate. She kept her eyes very firmly on the floor, refusing to reveal just how embaressed she was. "Ahem."
Re: Meanwhile, in the Waiting RoomnotahawkingbirdJune 7 2006, 02:09:54 UTC
Kate thought she'd been doing a pretty good job of pretending she had the power to not be noticed, but the still-unfamiliar sound of young Mrs. Xanathos trying to get her attention sent that idea to extinction. "Yes?"
Time Conviently Passes...teddyaltmanJune 7 2006, 20:24:26 UTC
The waiting room door was opened by a pile of snackfood. Behind the various foodstuffs, however, was Billy, Teddy, Tommy and Vision. Billy dropped his load and scampered back out the door.
"Billy has a cunning plan." Teddy explained. "He just needs to explain it to the electro-magnetic guy outside and then he wants explanations. And I quote, 'preferably in English'."
Re: Time Conviently Passes...rowenamoxJune 7 2006, 20:34:24 UTC
"He's on to me, is he?" Rowena said, tearing into a burger. She crammed the whole thing into her mouth and managed to swallow it with the minimal amount of chewing. Dignity be damned, she was hungry. "Fine. He'll get his explainations, and then he can explain to Jeffery just why he knows." Another two burgers were devoured as she spoke. "Ciggies?" she said hopefully, actually pausing to chew on her forth helping.
She reached out and grabbed a soda, gulping the sweet, fizzy drink down.
Meanwhile, outside, Billy stood in front of Victor, hands in his pockets. "Mrs. Xanathos made it pretty clear that she's not going to spill with what's going on until we're all together," he said. "I can get you into the hospital without you setting off alarms or anything, if you'll let me."

"Ok, so Molly is now in a hospital? I guess we get to test the new cloaking device on the leapfrog after all."
Chase perked up and ran over to the controls and started the leap frog up. He flicked the cloaking switch and pulled up on the joystick.
"You may want to buckle up sugar lips, we are testing out frogger mode now."
The leapfrog jumped back alley to back alley, avoiding major traffic. Chase had a big grin on his face for the fact that it was finally working with him again. He landed it on the roof of the Hospital and paused.
"Wait, how are we supposed to get in contact with the living Sparkplug to get us down there?"
Re: Time Conviently Passes...vision_yaJune 7 2006, 21:58:44 UTC
The Vision looked upwards, curiously.
"[Pardon me a moment.]" he said, drifting out the door and towards the stairs. He figured that he probably shouldn't risk phasing through electronics in a hospital. So it took him some time to reach the roof. Just to be on the safe side, he slipped back into his becoming-favored teenage holographic appearance. Short green hair, medium skin-tone, almost-yellow hazel eyes and a predominately green wardrobe. The yellow coat would not be making another appearance.
He peered out onto the roof and raised his eyebrows. There was something there, but his sensors told him that there wasn't anything at all. Cloaked, obviously. But he recognized it from the Avengers' files - the Runaways get-away vehicle. It probably contained Gertrude Yorkes and Chase Stein, and likely Gertrude's dinosaur.
He propped the door open and headed towards the ship, stopping at what was hopefully a non-threatening distance.
