Nothing to Lose: Part 2 (Part 1 below)

Jun 02, 2005 10:45

First of all, the reason part 2 has gone up so long after part one is because a little brother wanting to use the computer and a diner run delayed it. Sorry for the wait.

Wednesday I had to be up early to be in work at 10, I think I ran the TSC that day. Then that night I went bowling with Kate, Cara, Matt, Tina and Randy to celebrate Cara's birthday. It was a good time even though I did terribly bowling. After bowling I just bailed and went home because I was taking Katie to take her driver's test the next morning bright and early.

I got to her at like 8:15, and we got over to the DMV for her 8:30 test. She had the guy that I had when I took my test. She messed up on her parallel parking at first, but the guy was cool and let her do it again. She got it and pulled out. So she finally passed the test. She got turned away twice without even being allowed to take the test, and then failed once. So she deserves to finally have her license. When she got back she bolted out of the car and ran at me and in her excitement jumped on me and gave me a hug. The guy was like "I'd be one mighty happy guy if a girl gave me a hug like that." That was nasty, I told him that "If I was that happy I'd be a bit scared, meet my cousin."

That Thursday night I worked, we didn't get out till after midnight. This didn't sit well with me because I was tired to begin the night, but on the plus side I hear that in my tired craziness I was a riot, making people laugh. We also learned that Bev is the best hotdog zoner, but not so great on the bolonga, however, it isn't a completely different meat. Friday I had to be back at work at 10 and then I worked till 6, so that was not so cool. I put in 7 hours, then had only 9.5 hours before I had to go back for a 8 hour shift. But I managed to get through it, and I made it till 6 on Friday evening.

When I got home I was tired and just feeling out of it, and I didn't feel like going out, but John got me to go to 11 East with him. I'm glad he did, because it was a good time, and the guys asked John to play two shows there...so it worked out. BABYSHOES (HAH!). Orginally I was supposed to chill with Stan, but that didn't work out, which worked out because I had work at 8 the next morning. Before I went home that night I rocked over to Lauren's because she made me cookies. John came with me and Bob ended up showing up. Besides the coffee the boys and I also stole chinese food from Lauren (we didn't really steal it, she told us we could, but stealing is funner (yes, it's a word)).

6:45 came much to quickly Saturday morning, and before I knew it, it was 8 o'clock and I was at work. The day went quickly and somewhat smoothly. I was pleased when 1 was replaced on the clock by 2, and I went home. I relaxed for several hours before it was time to get ready for Movin' Out!

I had just finished getting ready for the show with an hour to spare, when my phone rang. It was a friend who needed some Shawn chat time, so I found myself at the Crystal Lake Diner for an hour. Which was cool, I love spending time with this friend, and I'm a big fan of helping anyway I can.

I got back to my house just in time for leaving for the play (as I planned to). When I got there the Gradys, Aunt Janine, and Jill (cousin) were already there. So we left shortly after I arrived, and headed for the train station. When we got to the station the change machine started to eat our money. We had to use the phone to get some lady to let us pass (no one else liked my idea of jumping the bar). She called us her "Collingswood Family" by the end of the night.

The Show was incredible! Just see it! The play is without dialogue. They have dancers on the stage, and a band on in the raptors. So the actors didn't sing either, the guy playing the piano did all the singing (I suppose that makes sense). Anyhow, any show where the Overture is "It's still Rock and Roll to Me" and the company bows are to "New York (Philadelphia) State of Mind" is worth seeing. Let me hit you with run down of musical numbers:
1. Scenes From an Italian Restaurant
2. Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)
3. Reverie (Villa D'Este)/Just the Way you Are
4. For the Longest Time/Uptown Girl
5. This Night
6. Summer, Highland Falls
7. Waltz #1 (Nunley's Carousel)
8. We Didn't Start the Fire
9. She's Got a Way
10. The Stranger
11. Elegy (The Great Peconic)
12. Invention in C Minor
13. Angry Young Man
14. Big Shot
15. Big Man on Mulberry Street
16. Captain Jack
17. Innocent Man
18. Pressure
19. Goodnight Saigon
20. Air (Dublinesque)
21. Shameless
22. James
23. River of Dreams/Keeping the Faith/Only the Good Die Young
24. I've Loved These Days
25. Scenes From an Italian Restaurant (Reprise)

So the show was incredible, and I got to talk to my cousin Jill for awhile...which was cool cause I never really talk to her, beyond small talk. We chatted mostly about music, but also shows and things like that.

ok....time for another break...I don't know about ya'll, but i need to use the potty. I think I can wrap this up with Part 3.
