Chapter 05

Spring was nearly there and finally the scarf and mittens could be tossed aside. No more rubbing colds hands while waiting for the bus, no more careful walking in fear to slip and fall because of the icy pavement. With the change of the season so did the changing of his mood. Kim Ryeowook was one out of many who blamed the dark times of the year for his continuous solemn mood and partially it was true, because when Spring arrived with the cheerful chirping birds and beautiful blossoming of flowers, Ryeowook's opinion of life changed as well.

Ryeowook's life had been wonderful until the day his boyfriend - Henry - stopped calling. No text messages, no emails, nothing. Why did he not answer to the knocking on his apartment door? Ryeowook saw no sign of him even if he roamed the other's workplace. Had he simply vanished?

No, that wasn't possible and Ryeowook soon saw what had changed when at one night he spotted his lost lover in one of the clubs they visited together regularly. This time however, the younger one wasn't dancing with Ryeowook, but dancing with someone else, an older male who appeared to be more than just a little interested.

He watched from the bar with his drink tightly clutched in his hand as Henry grabbed the male's hips and ground their loins together, the look on both their faces indicating they were on fire on the inside, almost unable to wait to be alone and fuck. They were so caught up in their lust for the other that they didn't notice Ryeowook was silently following them around the club. From the dance floor to a booth in the more secluded part of the nightclub, even when they got their coats and left.

They had been drinking, the strange male had his hand on Henry's shoulder as they walked, because he was unable to walk alone without tumbling over. He swayed his hips, giggled and practically threw himself against Henry when a honking car startled him. Ryeowook pinched his own cheek when he caught himself wishing the car had hit them. Anything to get that disgusting man off his Henry.

For a moment Ryeowook thought Henry had spotted him and he ducked behind two trashcans to hide when the intoxicated couple reached Henry's apartment building. The drunk male kissed his ex-lover, half dryhumping the other with Henry wrapping his arms around the male's middle to keep him from falling. Shameless, disgusting, infuriating as they locked lips for a sloppy kiss. It was heartbreaking and Ryeowook shook his head with a soft whimper when he heard Henry asking Sungmin if he wanted to stay over for the night, because he was worried about the other's safety.

Worried for Sungmin's safety, yes, very clever of you, Henry. Ryeowook narrowed his eyes.

"Come on Sungmin, let me hold the door and just head toward the elevator straight ahead, okay?" Henry ordered when the older male pulled away and turned to the door with pursed lips.

"Henliiiiii, you're such a gentleleleman." Sungmin giggled and gleefully went inside followed by a smiling Henry who lingered behind to check out the other's butt.

It was all the evidence Ryeowook needed to realize he had been dumped though Henry hadn't told him personally. The coward, the nerve to just ignore him and move on. One wouldn't embrace and touch someone else like Henry had done with Sungmin if they were still together. No calls, no good bye, Henry simply avoided Ryeowook and had found another man to spend his time with amongst other things.

That night the young heartbroken Ryeowook wandered the streets alone, tears staining his face as he sobbed and sniffled. People who passed him let him be, some pitying him and others laughing, but Ryeowook didn't care. Those people didn't care about him, no one did. There was no one left who could make Ryeowook feel special and who could stop the aching of his heart.

Mankind didn't truly try to make the world a better place, they hurt others to feel better themselves and Ryeowook clutched the fence of the local park when realizing Henry wouldn't even feel bad if he knew how big of a mess Ryeowook was right now. Would Henry ever apologize? Would they ever speak again?

Ryeowook pressed his face against the cold fence, eyes slowly closing but halting as he noticed a figure with a flashlight passing him from the other side. He hadn't noticed Ryeowook and by the looks of it the man was authorized to walk around that late at night. He looked lonely and Ryeowook snorted softly when he heard the man talking to cats and shooing them away.

"Excuse me."

The light blinded Ryeowook momentarily and he whimpered as he covered his eyes. A hand was placed on his shoulder and a concerned voice asked him if he was alright. While rubbing his eyes Ryeowook nodded at the stranger, blinking his big eyes up at the other.

"What are you doing here at this time of the night?" the man asked with his flashlight lowered so they could see each other with shadows hiding most of their faces.

"Feeling lost and alone" Ryeowook answered truthfully with a small sigh. He looked around and realized the park was not far from his house, strange since he had never noticed it before. "Do many people come here?" he asked.

"Not at this hour, most usually come early in the morning or after lunch. Are you alright?" the man asked and wanted to raise his flashlight to see if Ryeowook wasn't hurt or crying.

The smaller male quickly stepped back and twirled around. "I'm fine. Sorry for startling you. I'll be on my way now, good night." Ryeowook quickly scurried away and ignored the man who called out for him. He had no need for his company, not with the gears in his head spinning at high speed.

Ryeowook wanted to be alone. There was so much going through his head that he was certain he was losing his sanity. Henry's face, smiling and kissing that other man. Why couldn't he get it out of his head, why did it have to happen to him? Had he not been a good and loyal lover? Had he not ignored every person who seemed interested in him when he was dating Henry? Had he not been honest, understanding, and patient?

Why? After everything he had done, why did his heart have to get broken?
It wasn't fair! This wasn't right! He should not be the one in pain for doing right!

He rushed through the park, running, stumbling and also squirming his way through bushes. He only stopped once he found an open space surrounded by large bushes and trees so that people from the outside could not see who or what was kept hidden inside. It was untouched and a bit muddy, perfect to plant flowers and plants.

Ryeowook crouched down and played with the thick dirt, a small smile spreading on his face. A perfect place to bury his sadness.
