The PCB Last Mile

Mar 10, 2010 23:37

I ran out of time and I decided to let the pcb manufacture panelize the my latest pcb. The problem with allowing the manufacture to panelize the pcb is that they use very thin tabs to connect the boards in the array. The thin tabs causes the pcb board to flex during pick-and-place operation.

Over the years, InteraAction has develop thick breakaway tabs that reduces flexing, but I did not know how to implements these sturdy tabs in Altium Designer. After the latest board went out, I decided that I need to know how to panelize a pcb design in Altium Designer (summer 09). It took over a day, but I develop a method to make panel arrays with the thick breakaway tabs.
