Hearing the violin, Kyouya made his way down the hallway. Coming to the room the music seemed to be coming, from he noticed the door was open a small crack. Pushing the door open slightly he saw that it was indeed the right room.

Keeping silent he leaned against the door frame, watching as he swayed to the music he created.

It was quite likely that Roderich would have simply moved to a different tune once he finished the previous one, but he had felt someone watching him for the last few minutes and so he paused, turning around to see who had come into his room. At least they were polite, whoever it was.

He nodded to the other boy that was leaning in his doorway with a rather unreadable expression. "Pardon me, but I don't believe we've met." And what in the world are you doing in my room? Was what he left off, though the slight frown on his lips was easy enough to see if one was paying attention.

Returning the nod, he studied the other student. He was obviously from good breeding, the way he held himself attested to that.

"Indeed we have not." He gave a small bow to the other boy "Kyouya Ootori, and yourself?" He noticed the frown and had a pretty good feeling what it was about. However he shouldn't have left the door open if he didn't want someone to open the door.

Roderich was studying him as well, and it didn't take more than a moment for him to recognize the same thing.

He returned the bow, of course he recognized the name, even though he had never been to Asia or Japan himself. It was hard not to have heard of the Ootoris if you knew anything about rich families, even ones that didn't really have as much of a public face as some. "Roderich Edelstein, a pleasure to meet you." By now his face had returned to a much more neutral look, all trace of the slight frown gone. "Do come in if you have a moment."

Miku had been wandering the dorms, as it seemed the school had gotten another group of new students (their paperwork must have been processed in batches, with the regular groups they arrived in). So she was on the sixth floor of the boys' dorms--so many boys in this school!--when music caught her attention. She followed its source, peeking into the room where it seemed a boy was playing, and began singing wordlessly along without really thinking about what she was doing--and her powers, as usual, sent the feelings of the music out around her to effect others.

The singing startled Roderich and his bow slipped momentarily. At first he thought that he might have been making the sound inadvertently, it did happen sometimes when he was under a lot of stress. But no, that was another person. He managed to keep playing as he turned to face her, vaguely recognizing her from somewhere, the news perhaps? Regardless of whether he knew her or not she had a nice voice, and he found himself feeling even more relaxed than before, if a little melancholy. He had always found the piece, for all its complexity, helped relax him and hearing her sing it only enhanced that feeling. He smiled at her as the song ended and the last notes of his instrument died away. "You have a lovely voice."

Miku beamed at the boy, glad he hadn't been annoyed with her singing. "Thank you! You play so well, I just had to sing. That was Bach, right?"

She knew enough about classical pieces to place the composer, although the specific name of the piece was lost on her.

Roderich nodded "Thank you, and yes it is Bach, one of his violin sonatas." It wouldn't surprise him to find out that Miku didn't know the name, not many people would want to remember a name like Sonata for Violin solo No 1 g minor BWV 1001. It wasn't as memorable a name as Eine Kleine Nachtmusik or Bolero after all.

He put the violin down on the table and turned back to her "I had thought my door was closed, but it seems I was wrong. Would you like to stay for awhile? I wouldn't want to keep you if you were busy."

Naoto had always found the sound of the violin to be beautiful and moving. In the hands of a skilled musician it could become so much more than a mere instrument. It could become sadness, it could become joy. It could become any emotion, any place, any memory that was required of it. Needless to say it was more than a pleasant surprise when he heard music from the dorm next door. He carefully walked to the room over, pushing open the crack in his neighbors door slightly so he could observe and listen ( ... )

Roderich would have been highly flattered to know that his music had such an effect on Naoto. It was always a goal to convey not only the emotion, the story that the composer had written into the music, but the emotions that the song brought out in the musician as well. Music had always been an emotional escape for Roderich, especially when his own life required a level of constant politeness that would drive some people to distraction. The emotion that he was able to convey through his music was not only approved but applauded by his demanding parents ( ... )

The last notes resonated with a melancholy warmth - the gentle vibrato easing out their final breath - before it dissipated completely. The air felt heavy, yet peaceful and Naoto soaked in the atmosphere while he could. The moment lasted mere seconds before he heard the sound of shuffling feet and he opened his eyes to an inquisitive face.

"I apologize for the intrusion. Your door was cracked open and it did not seem right to interrupt such a well played rendition of one of Bach's sonatas."

Well, that explained where his audience had come from. He nodded "Apology accepted, it is always good to have an appreciative audience, regardless of the reason for the appearance." He put down the violin and leaned against the wall, trying to place where he had seen him before. Possibly when he had been moving his things in.

"Please do come in, I'm Roderich Edelstein, I believe I've seen you, but I don't think we have met yet."

Ahhh, my tag will be horrible, probably hagyjbeken January 22 2010, 06:26:09 UTC
With the weather barring any attempts for outside exploration, it only left Elizaveta to wander the school itself. Which, in the long run, was probably not the best of ideas in case she somehow found herself lost in the silly labyrinth of a thing. No matter, though, certainly there had been rhyme or reason behind everything.

The seemingly quietly, save for the student talking; hallways were something of a bother to her. Though, quite quickly, she caught sound of actual music, none of this gross American things she kept hearing amongst the students and such. Curiosity taking over her mind she made her way to the cracked door, peeking in to see who it was.

...Of course it would be her luck to be someone she knew, of course.

But I've been waiting for you to tag! musikjugend January 22 2010, 09:50:43 UTC
As Elizaveta probably knew from long experience spying on Roderich when he was playing, there was very little that could break the musician's concentration while he was playing. And her peeking at him through the door was not enough for that to happen. There was a rather familiar prickling sensation on the back of his neck, but he was rather used to it and so kept playing. Once he was done he flipped through the folder full of sheet music that he kept, looking for something new to play.

Lies, I say. xD hagyjbeken January 24 2010, 13:49:49 UTC
When the opportunity presented itself, particularly when changing music, was her best bet of interruption. Thus she took the imitative, deciding that interrupting through saying something was better than just barging in, of course.

"Roderich?" She questioned, voice keeping to a fairly soft tone for the time being, it just seemed right to do so.

Roderich blinked at the voice. He had "spoken" to her yes, but only over the network, with text. It hadn't really seemed real until he heard her quiet voice behind him. He had to pause for a moment in an effort to quell his surprise, finally turning around with a small smile on his face.

"Elizaveta. It has been quite awhile. Please, do come in." He was trying to keep calm, and he thought that he was succeeding, but it was hard to tell, especially since he was so nervous about seeing her again.

Hi From Your Roommate! past_returns January 29 2010, 03:26:11 UTC
Jeremie sat cross-legged on his own bed, leaning back against the wall. He had a rather thick book on illusions balanced on his knee with one hand while his other hand was taking notes of anything that might be useful.

He really didn't mind the violin playing. It was better than the two obnoxious roommates who weren't actually there. Those former students had left some serious echoes in this room.

Why hello there roomie! musikjugend January 29 2010, 18:07:29 UTC
Truth be told, Roderich only barely noticed his roommate. He was quiet and unobtrusive and offered neither complaint nor criticism. He hadn't really had a chance to talk to the other boy, but he wasn't going to interrupt what seemed to be a study session if the book was any indication. Once the first song was over he paused, flipping through his sheet music to find something else for him to play. "I don't suppose you have any requests?" He said, almost off-handedly, not sure if Jeremie would be interested in asking for something. Or even just tell him to be quiet so that he could do some more studying.

Jeremie lifted his head up, a bit surprised at the sudden loss of music. He blinked at his roommate, ignoring the people not really there. "Huh? Oh, uh, no. What you're playing is fine."

He turned his attention back to the book, frowning at a particularly difficult passage. Ugh.

Roderich wasn't the sort to interrupt much, and since Jeremie seemed quite busy he simply nodded, with a quiet "very well" finding his sheet music for "Fur Elise" and setting it up to play. True, it was supposed to be a piano piece, but it actually transferred to violin quite well. He was tempted to add a piano accompaniment to it, but no, to him at least that would be cheating. So instead he played it without, as a solo, quietly, so as not to disturb Jeremie's studying.
