I've always been envious of people who coul write chronologically. People like
minisinoo,
fyreworks, and
mortongirl make outlines, have set events, know everything that's going to happen and when it'll happen. When they go to their computers, it's just a type-type-type-type-type and BOOM! 10,000 words in one week.
I am not that fortunate. I've made outlines and plotted things out but my outlines resemble Swiss Cheese. Even when I do have a half-decent outline, I can't seem to write things a chapter at a time. I believe I've described by writing style before; I write like most film directors make movies and I could be writing the ending on the first day followed by the middle. This makes the whole writing process VERY LONG because I have to wait until I have enough beginning chunks before I can piece together the first third of the story.
This and the Swiss Cheese aspect of my writing style also creates problems with details. I know details three cahpters ahead of the characters on average. Sometimes, in the course of writing, I'll put something in the middle (which I wrote first) but copletley forget to mention it in teh beginning (which I wrote last). Or, worst of all, the course of the story completely changes as a result of all the little discovered details in the first two-thirds and I have to RE-DO THE ENTIRE ENDING.
