This is why Sage, my Treo, is so essential

I've always been envious of people who coul write chronologically. People like minisinoo, fyreworks, and mortongirl make outlines, have set events, know everything that's going to happen and when it'll happen. When they go to their computers, it's just a type-type-type-type-type and BOOM! 10,000 words in one week ( Read more... )

Hey, I write the same way. I find that it helps to make the outline, and simply list the major event of that chapter, characters involved and specific details I need to mention. That's it. After I get this outline together, I pick and choose which scenes/chapters I want to write first, in any given order. I can check off that I mentioned the details in the list as I go. Once I finish the chapter, I modify that section of the outline to reflect any mutations and check it against the rest of the outline. It's a bit time-consuming, but at least you won't lose track and drop subplots.

It's the time consuming part that annoys me. I'm a wee bit competitive and knowing that Rae can finish one chapter in two days when it takes me a month really makes me pouty *LOL*

*lol*

I love that you're still competitive with me, and I'm always oblivious to the fact that I've been entered into the competition at all.

And hey, I haven't written anything since last last weekend or something... I''m still pretending to work on the outline for S&S. Stupid fricken *goes off to a corner to mutter*

A good rule of thumb is if I'm breathing, I'm competing against someone about something. Usually people close to me. ie) I DO compete about who gets to the car first when we go somewhere. :D It's a pathological thing now, I know.
