Wise beyond her years...
I just got pretty much the confirmation of what I already knew, but the concrete answer was painful. I sat on the floor crying and Devin came up to me and asked what was wrong. I told her I was sad but I hoped she never understood it, and asked her if she'd always love me. She hugged me and told me yes, and I made an offhand comment that someone needs to. This was her response:
Devin: "Don't you love your friends?"
Me: "Yes, Devin, I do."
Devin: "And don't you love my uncles?"
Me: *soft laugh* "OH, yes, Devin, VERY much."
*Devin wipes at tears* "Then you should be happy now!" *leans down to smile in my face*
*sigh* Devin is truly wise beyond her years. Now she's telling me not to cry and she's playing in a way that is fairly obviously meant to make me smile. Good gods, I think I'll keep her.
