C2E2 2011 - epic bliss!!!
OMG... OMG... OH. MY GOD. I'm not sure I could gush enough about C2E2. I was worried, since it was SO good last year, if it would hold up again. Oh, my friends, it did, in an EPIC way. BETTER than last year, I dare say. It was an epic con of totally indulgent geekiness overflowing with talent and sheer awesomeness.
Can you tell I'm still riding the con high ;)? I'm EXHAUSTED, but I can't sleep! I want to upload pics and share with all of YOU how totally epic it was :D. The costumes were phenominal, the panels interesting, the talent SUPER nice and the guests nice!! What more could you ask for?? Going the whole weekend was SO the way to go, and I STILL ran outta time to do everything I wanted to. Next year... ;)
So, I guess I'll start with my LOOT. I got some really cool stuff. Aside from all the free comics, bags, pins, posters, et al, I got to buy some REALLY cool stuff.
Possibly the most unique is that I got to get a couple pictures with True Blood's Sam Trammell and Kristin Bauer!!! <3 They were SUPER nice and it was an amazing experience.
I got a bunch of neat things; Marvel Civil War Hoodie, Batman Begins Symbol Black Spinner Ring, Wonder Woman Bracelet, a REALLY neat steampunk pocket watch and a smaller normal pocket watch for work, a print of The Goblin Queen by Jon Hughes, a Hack/Slash print signed by Tim Seeley, Rachelle Rosenburg and a couple of the other artists, a Adam Hughes Catwoman sketch (for a $5 donation to Japan), a Jill Thompson sketch book and a Brian Atkins sketch book. I *think* that's everything, hehe.
I got Devin Sonic the Hedgehog Archives 0, which she picked out all by herself. sat my dad got her a Wonder Woman Pink Bling Toddler T-Shirt, Blue Lantern Light-Up Power Ring and Ice-Bat Ugly Doll. She also charmed the Shawnimals Ninja so much she got a free micro ninja, plus 2 free magnets, Wonder Woman and Spider-Man, from SuperHeroStuff.com :D. Come to think of it, *I* got some REALLY cool free stuff too, just for smiling and chatting and honestly compliment peoples' works. I got the Firebreather T-shirt, a couple Kabuki comics, one of Serena's prints, another Hack/Slash print... yeah, the shopping was fun ;). I didn't even have time to shop for any ACTUAL comics or trades, heh.
Devin had a great time. She was interacting with EVERYONE, and charmed the con as always. She loved all the people in costume. She walked and shopped and talked to people and after a while slept in her stroller <3. she pointed out all her favorite characters (SPIDER-MAN!!!). She dolled out lots of hugs; R2D2, the giant Ice-Bat, some Sith guy, that ninja... she LOVED the huge Mario guy. Girl had herself a BLAST.
I had a BLAST getting autographs and sketches. I ended up using a journal that I've had FOREVER that I've never used, and I'm SO glad I did! Now I have 1 book with a TON of amazing work in it <3. I wandered ALL over the Artist's Alley getting a million sketches, plus catching people at their signing times over the the publishers' booths. I got Gene Ha, Jeff Loeb, Gail Simone, the DC kids panel, David Petersen, Joe Prado, Alessandro Vitti, Tyler Kirkham, Scottie young, Ben Templesmith, Scott Snyder, Tim Seeley, John McCrea, Eric Jimeney, Phil Hester, Jill Thompson, david Mack, Bill Willingham... the list goes on!! o_O *is starstruck* That book is geek GOLD. Got our pick with Dan Didio again, it's a tradition now :D. Devin charmed Leilani too <3.
With all the shopping and sketch collecting, I didn't even go to a quarter of the panels I was planning on attending. Overall that's ok... I ended up making it to 3; Welcome To The X-Men, Marvel's Next Big Thing Panel and the Fables Panel (no links yet; it was the last one of the con). They were all good, and I'm glad I got to go to those. We'll see how next year unfolds.
OMG... it's late and I NEED to sleep. I'm losing my train of thought and forgetting what I want to share here o_O. I'm uploading pics, so I'll be able to share some more of the fun soon <3. YAY!!! ;)
