Went into Lewisham this morning... I bought birthday cards for various people + a present for my granny; I also got card for making photo-frames with the Brownies on Friday, a new folder for Guider-in-Charge purposes (it is bright pink...) and a new notebook in which to keep the waiting list. *sighs* As well as this I paid in a cheque & bought bread and yoghurt and some pretend-meat-for-sandwiches. Shopping on crutches is quite far from fun, in case you were wondering.
After a brief(ish) break I went across to the PF for a FOCS meeting where I was fed Diet Coke and cake. Always a plan. Oh yes. *nods* Especially the Diet Coke. The plan to get me to drink 4 litres ("as a scientific investigation" selon la Squeen) did not quite happen though. Two glasses was enough to keep me awake & functioning, but thankfully not to send me completely hyper. Well, not quite...
Getting home again was interesting, as we were on a very crowded train. Was quite annoyed by group of people who deliberately ignored me being on crutches. It's fine if you don't notice. Or if you're so tired you can't stand. Or have some reason of your own you can't give up your seat. Or you are at the other end of the carriage. But no. This group of young women (about my age, probably a bit older) were steadfastly pretending they had not seen my crutches. Then, when someone sitting near them got up (and this train was PACKED) one of them went to put her bag onto the vacated seat. So of course I said "excuse me, could I sit there please" and she went into full-false-gushing mode. *glowers* And then she and her friends managed to KICK MY KNEES. Should I ever see them again I may have to beat them soundly. Oh yes... I do feel inclined to write to someone in disgust about the state of society today (particularly meaning people being crap & unhelpful towards people who might possibly require assistance) but a) that is always a bit weirdy and b) there are nice considerate people out there (like the man who held the door for me in M&S, or the man who picked up my crutch when I managed to drop it, or the lady who checked I was okay getting out of the train). Sadly they seem outnumbered by the crap though. Gah.
In any case, all this gallivating is quite tiring. *sleepy noise*
