If you know me at all, you know I love anything with the word "challenge" in the name. And I love yoga, so I've been wanting to do a thirty day yoga challenge all year. But I spend most of my exercise-time running, so it's been hard to fit in much yoga at all, actually.
Right now I'm also at a point where I REALLY need to clean up my eating. I'm in an "eat everything in sight" mentality and I need to rein that in before I have to start wearing sweatpants to work. I haven't gained a lot of weight back (yet), but I just feel icky. Confession: It is ten am and I am drinking a Coca Cola.
Salvation came in the form of a Chelsea Lately episode. Of all the unlikely places! Chelsea interviewed her yoga instructor, Mandy Ingber, who has a new book out called Yogalosophy: 28 Days to the Ultimate Mind-Body Makeover.
Okay, I admit that the name "yogalosophy" is pretty ridiculous. But it's exactly the sort of challenge I was looking for. It combines daily yoga with a healthy eating plan, plus setting intentions and short-term goals and making vision boards and all that nonsense that I LOVE.
I'm going to start the 28 days on Monday. If you want to join me, you have time to run out and get the book. I bought it for $10 for my Kindle, but the actual book version was only a dollar more. I found a few people who already completed the book and blogged about it here and here. I don't know how often I will write about it, because I don't know how much there will actually be for me to SAY, but I'm hoping to check in regularly.
There are three different eating plans--one omnivore, one vegetarian, and one vegan. But I actually want to try a raw vegan diet for the first few days and then re-evaluate from there. Feel free to place your bets on how THAT will go.
