It's not NY or any year. It's the Ponds. They died of old age. Because he saw the graveyard now it has to happen, it's literally set in stone.

YES. That makes so much sense. And the bit about Amy's saying not only "goodbye" but also "don't come after me" makes sense, too--that's her following River's advice not to let him see her grow old.

Still, my heart. Poor the Ponds.

My sadness is not really for the Ponds. I know they lived happily ever after. The sad thing for me personally, and what broke me watching the episode making me cry rivers of tears, was the Doctor's reaction. It was a happy ending, but the Doctor can't see it because for him, they are gone and he will never ever see them again.

With the others, he can even think for himself that they are still alive somewhere in the past, but with the Ponds I think the fact that he saw their graves made it so much worse because it killed all his hope. Ever. He will never ever see them again. *sniff*

Well, now I'm sad for everyone, thanks!

Seriously, though, that perspective does tie in perfectly, even with previous (new Who) Doctors. Like Ten's comment in "School Reunion." Poor the Doctor, too. *sob*

That comment breaks my heart. Another reason for him to not go back for them.

Obrigado para o cargo linguagem dupla!

I'm learning Portuguese and this is slightly awesome for me. Not only because it is Doctor Who but because it is in both languages. <3

Sério? It's always nice to know someone learning Portuguese. It's such a difficult language.

It's in Brazilian Portuguese and it may have some vices but bilingual Doctor Who is even more awesome.

Sim! More Euro Portuguese, and mainly for football (the real kind), but I love the language and have for years. I took Spanish in high school because we had no Portuguese and it was close. Now my Spanish is spoken with a Portuguese inflection.

Even if it is Brasilian it is still Portuguese and it is good for me to read the differences. :)

In written it isn't so different. The main difference are the slangs and vices. I think we Brazilians have a lot more than the Portuguese.

And BTW, football rocks!!!

This is one of the best thought-out things I've read about their departure. Nicely done.
