[team two] practice needed

Oct 06, 2015 21:48

I was supposed to write a long proper fic about this idea buuuut… let's stay with this for now. I might write the rest later. 8D

Lines were easy to remember, Jongdae had learnt the whole script within a relatively short time frame.

He also knew he could sing with confidence although Jongdae also knew very well he could always become better. Singing was actually quite similar acting; if one thought about it too much it could become nerve-wracking and uncomfortable, which would make the audience uncomfortable too.

But singing while acting was even more difficult, it was a totally different thing. When acting Jongdae shouldn't be the one feeling the story, his audience should. Every line of the song should be personalized and hold a meaning.

Jongdae had no problem with the story, quite the opposite. The script was well written. There were no useless scenes, Heights was a strong musical from the very first scene and it would hold the audience's attention until the end.

His only problem was the kiss scene.

The kiss scene which Jongdae was supposed to act out.

“The audience should reel at how passionate that kiss is,” the director had told him several times. “It's the highlight of the whole show.”

Jongdae stared at his own reflection. He had come home from the first practice and he could have told the director hadn't been completely satisfied with today's result. Jongdae had got a friendly pat on his shoulder as he had been leaving the practice venue but Jongdae also knew he should make his best to impress everyone as he was the new face in the musical world.

Jongdae knew he should be near perfect if he wanted more roles in the future.

Right now the kiss scene was the biggest challenge.

Jongdae frowned in front of the mirror. “It's hard,” he mumbled, and then made a kissy face.

That wasn't cool. Being passionate was one thing. But that definitely wasn't passionate, Jongdae made it look just dorky.

Jongdae tried to make a different kind of kissy face, closing his eyes slightly and tilting his head a bit.

No, no way. He looked like an idiot who had got some food on his face and trying to get rid of it.

Jongdae tried to look cool by adding more smile to his kissy face.

Plain stupid.

He tried to imagine his co-star was in front of him, raised his arm to rest against the wall next to the mirror and parted his lips--

“Wouldn't that be easier if you practiced that with someone?” an amused voice asked loudly behind him.

Jongdae startled in shock, accidentally hitting his elbow against the wall as he quickly turned around and winced. He was greeted by Baekhyun's grinning face.

“What the fuck, don't scare me!” Jongdae splurged angrily. He was embarrassed as the biggest troll on planet also known as his friend Byun Baekhyun had caught him like that.

“No no, keep going on,” Baekhyun said, the grin not escaping from his face. “It just started looking so pathetic so I thought giving you a useful suggestion could help.”

“Pfff, go away.” Jongdae made the other believe he woud throw the nearest object towards him by swinging his aching arm, and Baekhyun dodged automatically like he always would.

“Just helping my friend out here!” Baekhyun exclaimed before disappearing behind the corner.

*****

Jongdae knocked the door and waited for the permission to go in. As the voice asked him to enter Jongdae took a deep breath before turning the door knob.

“What is it?” Minseok asked curiously.

“Hyung,” Jongdae started.
