"For now, just stay here, out of sight," Jongdae told a terrified Sehun, half hidden beneath a pile of flattened cardboard boxes. "Don't come out unless you hear Liyin or I coming to find you, okay?"
The little boy nodded, and then he squeezed his eyes shut, curling up even further under his cover.
"I'm sorry," he squeaked, his words quiet from both being spoken softly and being muffled by the cardboard around him, "I didn't mean to cause you and Liyin-noona any trouble, I just-"
"It's okay, Sehunnie," Jongdae reassured, reaching out a hand to gently pat the little boy on the head. "We know who's really at fault, we'll get him back for making you cry. So don't worry, okay? Just stay hidden here while we sort everything. We'll come and find you when we're done, okay?"
Sehun nodded again, and Jongdae stepped back, placing the last few cardboard boxes onto the pile he had already made. He cast one last look over his handiwork, making sure it looked like a pile of waste cardboard boxes anyone could have tossed away and left there.
Satisfied, he turned to go and find Liyin. He had left her heatedly arguing with the stall owner who often accused Sehun of stealing his goods, the little boy limp in his arms as he bawled his little eyes out at having been yelled at so viciously. As he half-walked, half-jogged his way back to the market place, he fervently hoped that nothing had escalated, that she was still only arguing with the merchant and not…
Shaking his head, he hurried on: there was an angry guardian to back-up and an innocent child's honour to defend!
