Week 8, 2011

Feb 28, 2011 15:11

Last week was a huge challenge. At the beginning of the week, the whole food plan thing was derailed by peeps, of all things, and the end of the week tanked because we were running around...for THREE days! Friday-Sunday was seriously crazy: car hunting/buying on Friday, half a dozen grocery trips on Saturday (literally: 2 major trips-1 to farmer's. 1 to Kroger-and 1 Petco trip, then 3 trips to get things I missed or that hubs decided he wanted last minute), and Sunday got eaten by my DII Admin duties. The food plan and writing were a total wreck last week, and I'm just lucky I maintained my weight. :P

I'm supposed to get new glasses tomorrow, but we'll see. It'll depend on whether or not our oldest girl's college money comes in. I hope it all works out because the ones I have no longer seem to help with my astigmatism and I'm having a real hard time reading with them on. However, if not, then probably the week after next, which is when we'll have another influx of funds that can cover more than food. But, again, we'll see. For all I know, another utility will be past due then. :P

Anyway, here's where things stand....

Last week was a nightmare in terms of food and exercise. The easter candy became a huge issue, so now I'm just going to do what I can to keep it out of the house. I'm just like a crack addict: no control when it's available. Then the end of the week was trashed because we ate maybe one meal at home in a day. I'm doing better in my eating habits, yes, but stress me out and overwhelm me and I just don't think about it and I eat poorly. As for exercise, I suppose my Saturday misses were covered by the shopping I did (walked at a fast pace, hunting rather than leisurely shopping), but I was still a little on the stiff side when I got back to it yesterday after two hit and miss days. lol So I'm pretty lucky I maintain rather than gained. Only one day was less than 1550 cals, which seems to be about where my tipping point is.

Did try a new recipe that most of us liked: Curried Apple-Ginger Butternut Squash Soup.

Writing started off pretty good: Monday was eh, but Mondays are always eh since they are my housekeeping (online and off) days, Tuesday-Thursday went pretty good, then...nothing. Was either too busy or too drained/tired. By Sunday night, the crankiness was setting in. lol

Fortunately, I rarely have more than one crazed day in a week (and usually not even one...I live such a boring life, lol). And we did get a car (which won't really save us money, but won't cost too much more than current transportation arrangements and gives us more flexibility), I've made an appointment for the optometrist (just got to hope the last of the money we need makes it in so I can keep the appointment), and we've made up for two really lean and bad food weeks grocery wise. Plus hubs and I had a night out alone. NO KIDS! So I guess the three days of crazy and one off week isn't too bad when you count all that. :)

How's everyone else doing?
