I weighed myself Sunday. I was still at 249. I would have liked to see a little downward movement, but I am still struggling with some unhealthy eating habits. Like the ice cream. Friday was a really stressful day at work, and I ended up getting fried chicken for dinner and a tub of ice cream for desert. Of course, I can't eat all that ice cream at one time, which means I am eating ice cream every day. Not good.
On the other hand, I received the "Walk it Out" game for the wii on Saturday. That's actually a lot of fun for me, and it sure feels like a workout. It's pretty simple. You walk to the beat of the music, and the wii registers your steps using either the balance board, the nunchuck, or a ddr pad. I have been using the balance board. You get points for each step you take that is on the beat. You lose points if you miss too many steps, but I changed that, since some of the songs are fast and I am not healthy enough to go that fast. You use the points to unlock items around the island setting, like buildings, new routes to walk, and new songs. It's simple, but it's also kind of addicting because I want to unlock the island and new music. Saturday I used it for about 30 minutes, and Sunday and Monday I went for 40 and then 45 minutes. Monday I actually made it to 10,000 steps, which was cool.
I am probably not going to use it today, or if I do it will be a short session. My legs are actually a little sore because I am not used to this.
The number one thing to me is that I think exercise needs to be fun and motivational. This seems to fit the bill. I hope eventually I can use this to get in good enough shape to do other exercises, like jogging on the treadmill or get back into dancing. But for now, this seems like it should work pretty good.
