A St Pat's Day drabble - Real Irish Music

Mar 17, 2019 17:25

I've spent a good part of the day listening to "real Irish music". And very nice it's been. Here is my idea about how the day might have played out for our boys.

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday. They escape the diner’s rainbow shamrocks only to get lured to Woody’s where they have to endure idiots, drunk on green beer and Guinness, attempting atrocious Irish accents; not to mention endless fucking karaoke versions of Danny Boy and Dear Old Donegal.

When they finally make it home they order Thai and Brian puts on some music. A plaintive melody, played on a harp fills the loft before it makes way for what can only be an Irish jig.

“Real fucking Irish music,” Brian mumbles as Justin picks up the Chieftains’ CD cover.

Wishing you all a very happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Oh, and if this has put you in the mood, the rest of my Irish fics are indexed here:
