I was more than a bit wiped out, but much better now -

-Short day at work, home by 5:30pm
-Husband home to tuck me into bed for a nap
-An hour of uninterupted nap time
-A parafin dip for my hands - aahhhhhhh.
-An hour body massage

Now all is right with the world.

 I've just caught up on 1 week of live journal - over 400 posts in 1 week.  Arrrrrgh!  Also proves we had no emergencies over lunch ;-)

Back around Christmas we had a lovely dinner involving 2 very tasty ducks.  Their remains became quite a bit of stock, which was saved in the freezer.  Now, when I'm too sick to make soup from scratch, I get to enjoy the smell of fresh soup cooking from that lovely stock, which will feed me for the rest of the week ( Read more... )

So, amazingly enough I bounced out of bed this morning after only 4 hours sleep, and was doing okay for about 2 hours. Then the coughing started. And the sore throat, muscle aches, funny vision... Dance class for this evening has been cancelled. I'm really bummed, as I missed class to go to Lunacon last week. Leaves me at lose ends for the evening, though maybe I can finally get the taxes compiled before my accountant has a coronary. Ooh, and I should be virtuous and go to the gym, as I won't be dancing for 2 hours as planned.

 So, I have internet access today at work, and few appointments, so I read over 100 posts this morning.  My work schedule has reached the insane level, starting mid February, where instead of my nice normal 3-4 days weeks, I'm working 4-6 days/week from now until July.  I will still have many evenings free for socializing, but Saturdays will ( Read more... )

 To make up for last week's gift, I hit the jackpot with my family this year.  I had triple underlined the fabric steamer, really wanting to have it for costuming.  Instead, I got...a reciprocating saw!! Now, I realize I wanted the 2 things for totally different reasons, but I had no expectation of ever getting the saw without buying it myself.  ( Read more... )

Most of the time, if you think about what you want for Christmas, it involves either a practical item (a sweater, new pan for the kitchen, etc) or something frivolous (books, a new car (ha!), etc).

I'd forgotten how much I like kittens in the house.  I'm fostering a little guy for bridgetminerva and n2lmq who is just the cutest thing.  As my plans with yulecat were unavoidably postponed, I decided to wash the kitten today, before making potpie for my freezer.  I started up the woodstove to heat up the house, heated some towels, and scrubbed him til he glowed.  Then I ( Read more... )

  I must be feeling better.  Yesterday, I had a successful interview, picked up my niece's birthday present, got my flu shot, and visited the chiropractor, all before noon.  Managed to get some introductory letters out in the mail, clean up my bills and get started on the art show paperwork and email.
