Since I've run out of 'Hell on Wheels' to watch, I thought I'd give 'Copper' a try. Production values are high, the time frame is similar, there's just as much violence, whores, drugs and drama... But I don't like it as much. Which is irritating, because after the first episode it settles down to be pretty good.
Having watched several episodes back to back, I think I've worked out what's bugging me so much. It's a bloody vampire larp - I know and despise these characters of old.
Corcoran is the lost Gangrel trying to make good (with an unfortunate taste in Malkavian girlfriends). The Morehouse family are Ventrue - old blood, old money, new commerce. Elizabeth and Madame Whatshername are both Toreador of the type I want to stab. Dr Freeman is a Brujah, his wife is a ghoul. Little Annie is Malkavian of the extremely innocent/bugnuts variety. Not sure what Eva is, although Francis Maguire is probably Ravnos.
