Conversations with my father III.

Kallian: Did I tell you I'm gonna be sent this $250 violin?
Corvid: Meep, you mentioned it.
Kallian: (suddenly) Can I exchange it for you?
Corvid: (confused) With who?
Kallian: Er...
Corvid: I mean, who on earth are you exchanging it with in order to be given me?
Kallian: Oh, um... your father?
*brief attacks of hilarity ensue at the absurdity of the idea*
Corvid: I want to go and ask him now.
Kallian: Hee - I think you should...
*Corvid gets up to leave*
Kallian: No - you shouldn't - I was joking- no!
*too late*
Corvid: Ahem. Kallian wants to know if he can swap me for a violin?
My Father: What?
Corvid: Kallian wants to know if he can exchange me. For a violin.
My Father: You may tell Kallian, that whilst you are frequently difficult, I will not swap you for a violin.
Corvid: Right. *returns to other room* He says no.
Kallian: *Hides* Now he'll think I'm mad!
Corvid: (airily) Oh, don't worry. You're with me, he already knows that.
Kallian: (rallying) What if it was a Stradivarius?
