I recently saw the Clone Wars movie and was fairly non-plussed. I wasn't dissapointed so much, just very very indifferent. I realised half way through that it's not a film for me. It's a kids film. It's probably a very good kid's film, I wouldn't know. I'm not a kid. I'm going to watch the series because it'll cost me nothing to do so, but I'm not hoping for much.
That said, I've recently been listening to the Force.Net podcasts and it's hilarious and squirm-inducing in equal measure. Here we have a couple of guys who's job it is to LOVE Star Wars. These are the guys who could take one of George Lucas' shits on a plate and describe how fantastic it is. How much sense it makes. How it adds to the Star Wars Universe. How much better the other films are now because of the context that this steaming turd gives them. etc etc. It's an entertaining podcast but I prefer a more impartial approach that isn't afraid to say that some things with the Star Wars logo on it, really aren't that good.
In a slightly related note, we finished Keep on the Shadowfell the other night after, ooh, three and a half months on and off and it's been a blast. So this Tuesday I begin my Star Wars campaign set a couple of years before episode 4 so I get to use Stormtroopers and TIE fighters and still have Jedi running around. I'm using the Dawn of Defiance campaign that is currently being run on Wizards' website but I'm suping it up so it's less of a series of laundry runs. We'll see how it goes.
