One Wizard and One Ranger, please!

I realised yesterday - after listening to Veronica Blessing complain about not being able to figure out how to create a character in D&D 4.0 - that I'd not had a go myself yet.
I sat down last night and built an Elven Archer Ranger and a Hobbit Control Wizard and it took me maybe an hour for each not including interruptions. I was a little hazy at first. I wasn't sure how many feats and pow3rz I could take but I quickly found the table that told me exactly and succinctly, so no biggie. I like it a lot. It reminded me of LUG's Star Trek actually, where you take your racial base and then overlay your career template. Simple as that. I'm not really sure which part 'Ronnie didn't get but hey ho.
I didn't flesh them out. The only equipment they have are weapons and no fluff beyond a name but allready they're colourful characters provoking all manner of visual imagery in my head.

d&d, roleplaying
