So the other morning I wake up at 7am to my mother's scream, and then woke up further by my door being opened and her standing in the door way saying, "You need to come save me!"
Now I'm rather groggy and I think I may have made a questioning noise while trying to figure out what it is my mother needs to be saved from.
Mother responds, "There is a BUG in my room!"
So I'm trying to find a shirt to put on (I can't sleep with clothes on) and then I'm fumbling around for my glasses so I can actually **SEE** this bug that my mother needs to be rescued from.
I then get into her room in an effort to save the day. Now I'm looking on the floor for this bug thinking I'm going to have to squash it. My mom is cowering in one corner of her room, and points at the wall on the other side of the room from where she is. And yes, there is a big bug up on the wall near the ceiling. I swiftly come to the conclusion that this bug is a little bit too large to be squashing, that would just make a really loud crunching noise (which just creeps me out) and it would make a huge mess on the wall, which I would then have to clean up.
So I walk down to the kitchen, grab a glass and a piece of paper on the way back to the bedroom, climb up on a box, stick the glass over the bug, then slide the paper under it to scoop the bug back into the glass.
As the bug falls off the wall into the glass, my mom screams yet again. At this point I've got the bug in the glass, the paper over the top of it in case it trys to fly off, and I'm very tempted to just hand the glass to my mother and go back to sleep. I take 3 steps toward her and she backs off almost into her bathroom and says, "Don't let that thing near me!"
I shake my head and proceed to the back door and toss the thing out on the patio and then I go back to bed, wondering what the heck my mother is going to do when there's another animal in this house once I'm gone.
So far I've saved her from 3 spiders, 1 big bug, and 2 little lizards since we've been down here. All sorts of fun, don't you think?
