starting to heal as a tree in Cata- woooo! also, a couple questions...

Hey everyone!

I took a break for a few months, since I was sick to death of running two heroics over and over. Patch 4.3 has me a bit excited though. I decided to dust off my druid and respec her to heal (since my daughter is now sleeping for a good stretch for her nap I feel like I can actually heal without having to be distracted). I've been ( Read more... )

i'll second using something like vuhdo but still having key spells handy on your bars for fights that have a lot of movement (i keep wild growth, the big healing one with a green leaf icon, lifebloom, etc on there - essentially the ones i use when i click). i also have vuhdo set up to show when a character is "swiftmendable." this is exceedingly helpful.

I replaced the 216 spirit version of Rainsong with the Core of Ripeness- adding spellpower but losing spirit- do you think I'll notice it?

i think spellpower ought to come before spirit especially since we've got innervate. i use innervate at about 1/2 mana on longer fights and manage to not run on fumes for the most part.

I'm a Vuhdo fan as well. I don't recommend macroing Swiftmend to Lifebloom, because there are some fights where I don't cast Swiftmend on cooldown; instead I save it for specific emergencies. For example, when I'm raid-healing Shannox, I save Swiftmend for the person who gets mauled by Rageface. There are also some fights where we group up the DPS and healers and use a lot of AOE heals (Magmaw, for example), and then I'm using Swiftmend on cooldown, but not on the person who's getting my Lifebloom.

I'd recommend reforging your hit ring to spirit, as well as a few other pieces (either crit or mastery). Healing will get a lot easier once you're at about 1700+ spirit (then a even more so at 2200). You can enchant Ring of the Boy Emperor, I've done it, it's currently sitting on my druid inactive because she's not an enchanter ( ... )

Thanks- I was worried enchanting the ring would make it soulbound, although I guess it doesn't matter anymore since my druid is my lowest toon gear wise pretty much. I'll take a look at my spec to see about the Lifebloom bonus, thanks!

Basically, there is not "regen after so long of not casting" now. There's just out of combat regen and in combat regen. Healers get 50% of our regen from spirit in-combat. That said, spirit is better for some healing classes than others. I've found for most healing classes I've played (pally, druid, a little bit of toodling around with shamans), around 2k spirit is the point where I started feeling really comfortable with my regen ( ... )

Seconding the core/tsunami combo. I still use core for some fights in firelands too. I just love the on use boost. I have the avengers of hyjal rep trinket for fights where I'm not as worried about it, but I just can't get rid of core of ripeness. I don't know whether it is a crutch at this point or if it really is just that good.

I think I would replace Core with Jaws of Defeat if it ever drops for me, but that's the only trinket that drops in Firelands that is very comparable.

And there's just nothing as good as Tsunami as far as regen goes among the Firelands trinkets. They can pry that one out of my cold dead hands.

Thanks. I'll check out power auras. Can most of the auras be turned off? I tried using it once on my mage and I couldn't stand having all kinds of stuff on the screen, but maybe it'll be more useful as a healer.
