This was the notification from Headspace this morning and it is so appropriate because just after I had seen it Rosie rang to let us know that their were no seats on planes out of Taiwan to Paris before Fridayn night/Saturday, and obviously I am now booked on that flight. Easy Jet have grounded all their flights as promised and are offering me a credit, which is good enough for me as I couldn’t have taken it anyway.
I am waiting until much nearer departure to organise anything in Paris because everything is changing so fast and it’s a pain to have to cancel although I see Air France have a flight to Toulouse on that day which might be a possibility. It’s expensive, but then so is every option, and if I take it then maybe they will provide alternative solutions if it is canceled.
My rather agreeable situation means that my quarantine is over, and I have five days holiday which I intend to enjoy. There is nothing that I can achieve by doing anything else, and I hope that photos of the flora and fauna will be interesting to others, not just me.
Today I ventured out to visit the lake that Rosie’s apartment overlooks. I went last week but I had Karl with me, in his poussette, and “No dogs allowed “ not even ones in pushchairs, so we just came home.
The lake at sunset.
The way I had taken with Karl had been along a very busy road, which I hadn’t really enjoyed, so James showed me an alternative way along the canal. It was amazing, quiet and lots to see.
This is a beautiful example of a Sabi Star, or desert rose. Adenium obesum. This plant can live for centuries and is handed down through generations as a symbol of family happiness.
This water lily in a pot had guppies swimming under the leaves.
Golden dewdrops, a type of verbena, gets its name from the yellow grape like berries, but the flowers are more beautiful to my mind.
White mouth day flower, Commelina erecta, is listed as an invasive species on my app, however I love the blue of the flower, which only blossoms for three or four hours in the morning.
Butterfly pea, is highly toxic, but pretty
These bottom feeders were only seen in this single part of the canal.
A little Egret, with golden feet.
Impressive allotment alongside the canal.
So many dead fish, James thinks that it’s something to do with the varying water level....
I finally arrived at the lake only to find that it’s shut on Mondays!
So I looked sadly through the gate, and promised myself that I would try again a third time, very soon.
