Poem- Perseverance

This is about people continuing onward even when all seems lost. And once they reach their destination, they do not forget the people that were left behind.

The jagged mountain tips hanging high above our heads
The winding path leading the way up to devastation
The sore feet trudging onward, not knowing what it means to give up
The tired hearts sick of being weakened, but still beating
The corpses of bodies that hadn't the strength to continue on
The valley of hopeless wonderers, only a few will make it to the top
The money overflowing in the pockets of the wealthy, used on things to make them more fancy
The poor struggling just to survive the streets of the deprived
The heartless sitting up high wondering what's next to buy
The determined still going even though the hope is gone
The peak isn't as dangerous as the wasteland they were in
The journey is difficult and dangerous, but rewarding and fulfilling
The strong finally reaching the top to look back at their hard work
The view wasn't as dark as it once had been, and the spirits not so dampened
The city of gold stretched out before them, their eager hearts finally seeing freedom
The newly rich wanting so to go onward, but knew the poverty beneath
The peasants no longer suffering, the riches now spent wisely
The selfless sitting up high with all their friends by their side
The dark valley isn't so unwelcoming now that the newcomers have arrived
The flawed perfection of this world is at least more bearable
The starving ended and the peace may finally begin
