Title: Demon In My View

Finished: 31/10/2005
Word Count: 302
Character: Reno
Status: Complete
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: If I actually owned Reno, there’d be a hell lot more of his backstory in FFVII.
A/N: Short, simple and supposedly dark. Got too caught up in Itachi’s phrase: “Foolish little brother”, which has gone and twisted my mind. A rather lame attempt at trying to get a rhyming pattern, but now I remember why I like freeverse so much. May undergo heaps of editting sometime in the future.
Demon in My View
Little Fool
Yes, I’m talking to you.
Don’t you worry, I'm just a
Demon in your view.
A callous reminder to myself of who I've been
This is where our road to Hell begins.
Little Fool
Don’t fear so much,
It's only blood, and it's cool to the touch.
Just wash it off, blood stains and brain matter,
You'll be seeing a lot more of it later.
Little Fool
I’m not your ghost
I’m the one who hides in your mind;
The assassin in your bones
Who is biding his time.
Little Fool
I’m not a figment of your imagination,
I'm just that blood-stained, scared, reflection;
Just look, your eyes aren’t so wide any more
And those scars on your face
Pave the way for more later.
Little Fool
Oh, I see you’ve killed your first man
Gun still clutched tightly in blood-stained hands.
Worry not as your trembling fades
This is the first step to your own grave.
Little Fool
You’re on the way up to my level
Cold-cutting gray eyes, you’ve finally understood
What I’ve been trying to say;
That righteousness is finally bleeding out of you
And your morals are starting to go askew.
Little Fool,
I see they got hold of you,
The ones from up above,
Those ones dressed in blue.
I hope you gave them a good fight
And a black eye or two,
I hope you gave them hell;
I sure did, when I was you.
Little Fool,
Your bloodshot mako-struck eyes laugh at me,
Well done, I praise you and your impertinency;
Congratulations on that devil-may-care smirk,
And a healthy pat on the back for the scars under your shirt.
Little Fool,
I commend you,
You finally got there.
I applaud you most uproariously
For the lazy unbuttoned shirt
And the knowing, smirking stare.
