I'm not sure it could have been a better weekend, unless it had somehow featured extended hours for squeezing in more time to spend with people.
So, there was a lot of good stuff. Know what's better than getting to play four-part 15th & 16th-century music for a few hours while all the local SCAdians hang out fighting tourneys, manning the barbecue and/or otherwise amusing themselves and random passersby? Or better than screening "Over the Hedge" (Shatner-possum FTW!) on a big piece of canvas pitched in the backyard for the entertainment of friends and neighbors? Or even better than getting in an early bid on a great house two blocks away from our current location? Icing and decorating your own cupcakes as a grownup party game, that's what! :)
Lemon-nutmeg cupcake with Alton Brown's bright green avocado frosting, dark green sprinkles and yellow sugar flowers! Chocolate cupcake with white cream cheese frosting and purple sugar music notes! Triple ginger cupcake with a little bit of every fancy decoration on the table! Woohoo!
Seriously... many heartfelt thanks, you guys. Best surprise ever. I'm still a little overwhelmed. Love all of you madly... and I'm really, really looking forward to introducing the sprout to such a wonderful, crazy-in-a-good-way bunch of folks.
