If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't be no luck at all

When I was a kid, the Red Sox almost always won when I went to Fenway Park. Jim Rice and Roger Clemens had stellar performances at the first game I ever attended (in 1986), and I remember at least one spectacular extra-innings victory during the late '80s. I was 7 or 8, and I got to stay up past midnight for the second time of my life. The first time had been after a performance of Oklahoma in Maine. Random, I know. Well, for some reason, now I'm like the girl in "Satisfaction" -- on a losing streak. The Sox are 0-4 this season during games that I attend. Last night was particularly disappointing because they still cannot seem to get any hits in clutch situations. Especially J.D. Drew. Drew, you suck! What a waste of millions of dollars. And Coco Crisp and Alex Cora ought to be ashamed of themselves for not being able to lay down a bunt. You are tiny infielders, come on! Anyway, the seats were awesome, though. I got to go to the game because I'm Jewish When Convenient. I joined this young Jewish professionals group, and they had tickets. Rawk.

I ran into a couple of people I used to know from when I worked at Fenway. One of them mentioned that he and some of the other workers still read that thing I wrote on the Internet about the evil Red Sox organization. I was a little embarrassed because it's pretty melodramatic and immature. Plus, didn't my mama teach me better than that?*

After the game, I drove my brother to his new apartment in Brighton. It is nice and big. He has a dishwasher. I don't. He is officially better than me.

So, I love riding my bike to work. It's almost always better than driving unless it rains or I have to bring something big home or I have to go somewhere after work that requires driving and/or not being sweaty. Today, however, I ran into two other negatives about biking. First, on the way here, I got stuck behind a garbage truck for a while, which was pretty wretched. I turned in to Harvard Yard, but man, was that an unpleasant 30 seconds. Then when I went into the bathroom to change, I discovered that I had forgotten to bring a tank-top to wear underneath my blouse, and my blouse is too low-cut and see-through to wear without an undershirt. Luckily, I had a black cardigan in my cubicle, so I'm just wearing that over it.
