SPN Big Bad Speculation
So to avoid cranky ranting about CW and their bait and switch in scheduling, I thought I'd put down a theory I have about possibly who the new SPN big bad is going to be....
We know that purgatory is going to be important in the rest of the season. We know something's stirred up the monsters in the world, and that the various Alphas all seem intent on building armies for some impending conflict. The Alpha Vamp talked about his mother as well.
So my thinking is that the new Big Bad is going to be that -- the mother of all the Alphas. (It would be a change from demons and angels being the big bads). The next question is who is the mother of all the monsters?
If they hadn't already used her in their mythology, I would have said that Lilith would be a good choice, but since we've already seen (and dispatched with) the SPN Lilith, it would have to be someone else. Someone powerful, primordial even, who is known for being the mother of monsters. Possibly even then having those monsters form armies. And, from a couple of comments I've seen in regards to the next ep, perhaps someone who has a particular connection to dragons somehow.
There's a name, a myth, that does fit all that.
Tiamat.
She's a primordial personification of chaos, the mother of gods and monsters, and she's often referred to or depicted as a dragon.
And I have no idea, if I'm anywhere in the ball park with this speculation or not, but from where I'm sitting right now, Tiamat fits. And if the show doesn't use her, maybe I will have to drop her into a fic.
