Sweetie's off

She's gone to Florida for a three-week training session. Last time she did this it wasn't a good thing, and Mom had to come over and kick me into shape after the first week. Mom is now in Ohio with my brother, his wife and their kids, so that's not an option ( Read more... )

That's right. Not only do all the cats have to be outside, all the windows have to be closed. All the inner doors left open - would probably need at least 3 bombs, but all the food has to be put safely away. Perhaps all the bread into the oven along with the fruit.

After the bombing, the counters have to be wiped down and the diningroom table wiped clean. Reopen the windows and close the inner doors we normally keep closed.

Remember, this is going to kill *everything* in the house, not just the fleas, so all the spiders will die too. Not that we can't get new ones.
:-)

Hey, I forgot to tell you to water my plants!! There is one in the kitchen in the hanger over the sink. Very little water needed as I think it's trying to die of old age. Then there are two in the computer room. One is by the window and the other is that half dead asparagus plant on the end of the bookshelf (up high). They don't need a lot of water, but I didn't think to water them before I left.

I love you honey. You're going to be fine. We will take care of each other. Kisses from your sweetie!!!

I was actually counting 7 or 8 bombs.
1) bedroom
2) back room
3) bathroom
4) computer room (all computers off)
5) hall/laundry room
6) kitchen/dining room
7) living room

Last time anyone around me did this it took at least four hours, so I'm going to need to go somewhere reachable, and Mikey has to go somewhere stable because she can't simply be released (or we'll never find her again). I was thinking of either camping out at William's (provided there's a ride home) or at Cheryl's.

Thank you for reminding me about wiping down counters and dining room table. I simply failed to think of it.

Oh shit, and the plants are going to have to be moved as well, or they'll die.

No. The plants will be ok and seven bombs is too many!! We've bombed the house before. We used one for the livingroom/diningroom (maybe two if they are small ones). Then I think we used one like, in the hallway or laundry room or something. Read the box. Our house is not that large! The fumes will permiate (sp) the house.

If you get small ones, I would think one in the bedroom and one in the computer room would be ok. The bathroom we should be able to get with just the driffy fumes. Don't know if there are even any fleas in the back room, but might as well open the door and get it too.

Oh, you can use those TV trays to set up places for the bombs to go. That worked really well last time. They would need to be cleaned afterwards too.

We don't want to really make it a toxic dump!! Please!

If Cheryl takes Mikey, I would hope she would keep her in a separate room away from their dog.

Whatever you decide, just be careful, ok?

Love you!!! Talk to you later! Kisses

I got a couple of flea bombs from Fred Meyer. I'm bombing the house and then dusting the vinyl parts afterward to keep the flea population down for (hopefully) the rest of the year. And cleaning up, of course.

I'm trying not to have a nervous breakdown during this whole process, but I will be careful. I don't want to poison myself, after all. :)

I'm not sure about Mikey, now. Cheryl wants to put her up against the wall in the main room, close to the door, but there's where the dog can get. Maybe I'm going to have to take her into town with me.

Is there any cleaning solution I should use to clean surfaces with after the bombing?

I'm worried about Mikey. What is it about dog people?

For cleaning, just use a sink towel (the ones I use to wash the dishes), get it wet and put some dish soap on it. Wipe things down and the run it under hot water to rinse it out. After you've wiped everything down and rinsed the towel, put it in the laundry room to be put in the next wash.

Good luck, love. Be safe!

Unfortunately there wasn't anything else to do, so I just spent a lot of time on aftercare, comforting Mikey after I got back. Only to discover Cheryl had returned Mikey to our front door about three hours after I got back. Fortunately she seems none the less for wear, but I'm still irritated about it. Thankfully this isn't something that needs to be done twice.
