"The World's Most Popular Manga"
At least, that's what it said on the cover.
I got the first Yu-Gi-Oh! manga out of the library, because I wanted to be able to say I'd read at least one manga before (I read the the first Kingdom Hearts one too, but to me, that didn't seem to count). I picked Yu-Gi-Oh! because it was one I'd at least heard of. I'm not sure I was expecting to like it. Turns out I did. The mix between a school story and the dark and mysterious wasn't one I'd seen before. I get the idea I like shounen manga better than shoujo. Plus, Yugi is so cute...
