Clerks 2 sucks because it's a complete remake of Clerks. Jay and Silent Bob sit around, Dante is torn between two women, and Randall is a smartass. Same plot same movie, blah blah. I should hate it. I should hate Kevin Smith for shitting on his first and best work by remaking the same fucking story 12 years later to a new audience. But I can't. Because it's really, reallly funny. It's funny in a way that you laugh at a movie you've seen 20 times but slightly fresher. It's funny in a way that you know exactly what the characters are going to say from the moment they step on screen and it still makes you laugh. It's funny in the way that you thought could only have been funny when you watched Clerks for the first time. Is it wrong that Kevin Smith recaptured the same magic? No. It was certainly successful. Do I feel like he copped out? Yes. I have less respect for Kevin Smith now but fuck if that movie didnt make me laugh.
