Children of Men is the best film I have seen since The Departed. It is, culturally, the most important film I have seen in a very long time and it is technically and aesthetically brilliant in its ability to complexly display documentary realism in a way that is painstakingly challenging and yet is portrayed as film in it's most simplistic form.
I don't want to ruin anything for anyone who has not seen this film yet but please, please go see it. There is a shot that lasts for nine minutes and honestly puts Touch of Evil to shame. It is the most technically brilliant piece of continuous realism within fiction I have EVER seen.
