So as of the past 6 months or so my comic book reading has become incredibly selective. It could be that I'm tiring of the medium, I don't have much money to spend on them, or I'm not seeking out more work. If they want some other selections of comic books that first time readers should pick up...Things like "Maus" is a great book. Will Eisner's "A contract with God" are great examples of the depth a form can have.

If they are looking for a little closer to what comics are in the mainstream world. Superman: For all seasons...is great. AstroCity confessions. Or any of the preacher collected series. Great stuff

Comics are a great medium and its the last true medium to be allowed to go anywhere it wants. There are no boundries in comics especialy these days.

Oh and if you want some current stuff to read. 52 the dc series is amazing. Civil war is ok...but 52 is brillent. Batman is a great book to be picking up. And Teen Titains is an interesting look at coming of age issues with powers.

I TOTALLY forgot about Preacher. I read that my freshman year at Towson and it blew me away.
