Ok, everyone uses PCs. It's a standard. What people don't realize is how often the fuckers decide to crash on you. Now this isn't a big deal when you're dealing with chatting on AIM or whatever, but when you're working with video editing software priced in the thousands, it becomes a big deal. My jaw hit the floor when I came to my first day of work and saw that I would be doing all of my editing on a PC instead of a Mac. My last experience with digital video editing on a PC was in england and I had numerous and daily crashes of the computers.
Now don't get my wrong, Macs crash too. But thinking back, I have had my current work PC crash on me while editing more in three weeks than in FOUR YEARS of editing using the same program on a Mac.
Call me an elitist snob, but I call it knowing better when I see it and getting pissed when no one else does. Here's another thing.... this super dell that I edit on has something like 3 gigs of ram and a huge processor. Top of the line for a PC. But It cant run Adobe After Effects and AVID at the same time!! Compare this to my 1 gig of ram Mac that, this weekend, I had Photoshop, After Effects, DVD Studio Pro, and Final Cut Pro all open at the same time with some slowdown but at least they all fucking ran without locking up in a fit of electronic rage.
Garrh!
