although i am taking a break from this couple, this was for their 300th day<3

'happy 300th day yong oppa~ let's continue to make great memories. thank you for taking such good care of me! continue to be happy and i will work hard as your wife. goguma couple, fighting!!'

it had only been three hundred days but yonghwa had counted more than three hundred moments in which she had taken his breath away, leaving him speechless and nevertheless alive. he reads the text message over again, because three hundred days seemed like such a long time ago.

(he wonders where she has gone after a year, two days after their 300 day anniversary, but he knows exactly where she is.

'i'm taking a break from everything .. i'm going to the states to study for a year.'

and no matter how much he didn't want to let her go he simply sucked in and held his breath, his lungs collapsing with each of his words,

'that is an amazing opportunity. i would never pass something like up seohyun-ah .. promise me you'll take care of yourself,' he holds out his pinky, the epitome of all promises, and he hopes that she knows as soon as their pinkies connect, she can never take it back. and she laughs right in his face, and yonghwa thinks she might as well have just punched him. but it's so light and so cheery and so seohyun, that he didn't care if she hit him with his car. she nods her head and links her pinky with his. `

'i'll be back in a year,' she says with a smile that easily outshines tiffany's. he leans forward suddenly, pulling her closer through that one small link, and his lips catch hers in something they had never done throughout their ten months of marriage.

he thinks they fit so perfectly, that she within herself simply defines perfect. his eyes are closed and its the highest feeling he has ever known - but it is a feeling the she has never known. she breaks the link of their pinkies and moves her face away. her eyes wide and face flustered. 'yonghwa, i .. i have to go and start packing, i leave in two days -' and she turns and runs, bringing his heart with her.)

yonghwa didn't bother running after her that day. he didn't bother calling her in the states. he didn't bother trying to mend his broken heart. he didn't bother trying to move on.

(but sometimes at night he'll wake up and think a little bitterly about it because she simply took his heart and dropped it, the best part being she just stared at the fucking shattered pieces on the ground and didn't bother to even try and sweep them up. so why should he?)

he won't talk about the countless songs he has written about a broken hearted man who cries alone at night, or that he marks his calendar everyday - and he sees it. he finally sees it, the little red circle around the ninth of december that has been taunting him for the past year. she's coming back today, he thinks, and no matter how much he wants to be bitter about it - he simply won't. he can't.

(he just reads her texts that he has saved from a year ago, and he wonders why she had never even bothered from america, and he decides it just hurts.)

-

'yonghwa, hung, you have a visitor,' minhyuk awakes him from his trance in his room (he has become used to staring the wall blankly, guitar in hands, and just letting the music fill the air through silence.) 'who - ah ..' he blinks a few times to see if she is really there, the beauty in front of him that he hadn't seen for an exact amount of three hundred and sixty five days.

'seohyun,' he mumbles and bows, and she returns the greeting. he tries to restrain the smile pulling on the corners of his lips as he shoves his hands into his pockets after setting the guitar down. 'yong oppa,' seohyun whispers shyly. he stares at her, seeing that every detail of her face is still the same, still as beautiful - if not even more so.

'what are you doing here? isn't it your first day back?' he asks. she shows him a small smile that he had been to yearning to see, but undoubtedly the pit in his heart still burns. 'yes, which is why i came to visit you,' she says then, looking at him before pulling out something from her bag.

it's a gold heart shaped box with a red bow on top and she stretches her arms out to him that she feels can't seem to reach through that gap in between them when she's only inches away. her head is down and her voice is shaky, but yonghwa can't bring himself to comfort her, to say anything to her, and the silence doesn't say it all for them, so seohyun does;

'i'm sorry for what happened a year ago, for becoming scared, for leaving you .. and your heart, and taking mine with me to the states. i'm sorry that i didn't kiss you back because i don't know how to, because i still don't, because i didn't think i deserved someone like you for my first one. i'm sorry for everything, for not talking to you in a year, for being a coward and .. ' her voice trails off.

'for not knowing what love was when it was there.' seohyun's head drops a little lower. 'so even though i know it's not christmas year .. jung yonghwa, this is my heart. a year later, and if you're not willing to accept it, i understand.'

it had only been three hundred (and sixty five) days but yonghwa had counted more than three hundred moments in which she had taken his breath away, leaving him speechless and nevertheless alive. even when she was gone, when she wasn't by his side - but she was somehow still leaving him breathless. he thinks this could be the top of all those moments.

he lets his fingers close to distance, letting them brush against the box as he takes it away from her slowly. yonghwa slides the ribbon off and opens it,

'happy 300th day yong oppa~ let's continue to make great memories. thank you for taking such good care of me! continue to be happy and i will work hard as your wife. goguma couple, fighting!!'

he reads over the little note on the top of the pile of notes and he thinks he hears her voice somewhere off in the distance.

'goguma couple, fighting ~'
but it's not really her, just a fragment of what they were, and somehow, a piece of what they should be.

but all he sees when he looks up is seohyun, teary eyed and more awe striking than ever. he lets his finger graze over her cheek, underneath her eye, pressing against her skin gently to wipe away the tears because she's so fragile, so delicate, but he feels like he is the one crumbling by simply touching her.

'seohyun .. i'm just happy to have you back.'
