Another time, perhaps. Another life perchance.

I know that I am fighting a battle I am meant to lose. And when the time comes, I will lose that battle with as much dignity and respect as possible for me. I know that what I want and what I am offered will never be on par. I know I will always have to settle for less than what I desire. May that be something as simple as an ice-cream flavor, or something as major as stepping away and letting go again. That's just how life is.

"...at times I almost dream
I, too, have spent a life the sages' way,
And tread once more familiar paths. Perchance
I perished in an arrogant self-reliance
Ages ago; and in that act, a prayer
For one more chance went up so earnest, so
Instinct with better light let in by death,
That life was blotted out-not so completely
But scattered wrecks enough of it remain,
Dim memories, as now, when once more seems
The goal in sight again..."
