Yay for tax refunds! I usually put half of mine in savings and splurge on something fun with the rest, though this time I'm depositing far more than half in my savings account. So now I'm trying to decide which treat to buy. One possibility is an eReader. My budget is around $200, which would get me a decent Nook or Kindle. Thing is -- I'm not sure if I really need one. I'm not a printed-page purist, but I stare at computer screens enough as it is. Plus, I'm a cheapskate. ;) Nearly all the books I read are from the library, and my county system doesn't have many ebooks available for loan. I've heard that Amazon has a decent lending system for the Kindle, which is a point in its favor -- though again, who knows if they'd have anything I'd want to read? I guess I like the idea of getting an eReader in theory, but I worry that I wouldn't use it enough to make it worth the cost. OTOH, nearly everyone I've talked to says that they felt the same until they got one. ;)
That said, I'm also definitely in the market for a really good alarm clock. I'm a ridiculously heavy sleeper who could doze through the apocalypse. I have a hell of a time getting up in the mornings, and I often oversleep despite using both an iPod dock AND my phone's alarm. Money's no object if I could find a clock that would get my butt out of bed without rushing to make it to work! Any suggestions?
ETA: Okay, okay, I just bought the $99 Kindle Touch. Here's hoping it's worth the investment! (Now I just need to officially file my taxes so I can pay for it. ;)
